Pretty funny how they are worried about that now, when they should focus all their attention on this season, but I think we all know why they would worry about this, 10k baby!

10k. I have that in my pocket right now. Screw that. I wouldn't touch an ABA Franchise with even a 25 foot pole. I rather invest in a rec league team at least real uniforms and games will be played.

Embellishments in bold

"Plus, it is great fun," For who, Joe? added Newman. "We have an extraordinary business model Model "T", that is and marketing "Got 10k" is not a marketing plan plan for teams. There are so many great benefits to ownership of an ABA team, mainly for me. Now is the time to reserve a market cause I'm broke so that you will have plenty of time to maximize the potential and I have plenty of time to cash the check."

Let's see...

ABA now accepting market reservations
09/26/07 - American Basketball Association (ABA)

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) is now accepting market reservations for 2008.
Do we assume, then, that there are NO more new teams to be added THIS season? Riiiiiiiight...........

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Once again, this season will see huge growth in the league with many new teams in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Now, I had a public school education, but the term 'growth' seems to imply that the new number is higher than the old. There were over 50 teams at the start of last year; there are less than 50 this year. Not only is it not growth, but it is ridiculous to call it a "huge growth," even for Joe.

And we are now making plans for next season. Might make more sense to complete the plans necessary to start THIS season, but why quibble??

Already, we have over 15 new teams set to play in 2008
Nothing is ever 'set' in the ABA; much like the schedule, these are merely suggestions of franchises until they actually take the court.

but there are many great states and cities that invite ABA expansion, and we are eager to find ownership groups."
Uh oh, Joe has an almanac...
Among the key targeted states are Connecticut, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. And there are many cities in states that now have ABA teams as well as Canada and Mexico that are of interest to us
Spreading the seeds to as many placs as possible. Note, of course, that the phrase used is "of interest to us" - God forbid Joe ever do anything as proactive as making a phone call (see NBA/ABA Katrina laugh-fest).

The reason for the rapid ABA expansion is because we believe we have the best professional sports package on the market. It is easier to own and operate an ABA team than any other. Minimum investment, minimum risk, and a high potential for excellent profits.
Would LOVE to see the character references he can provide to support that statement, as opposed to those that may, shall we say, not give it a ringing endorsement

"Plus, it is great fun," added Newman. "We have an extraordinary business model and marketing plan for teams. There are so many great benefits to ownership of an ABA team. Now is the time to reserve a market so that you will have plenty of time to maximize the potential."

"Like my nephew, Greg, has done in Ren..... wait, scratch that example..."

Joe has the makings of a great banker. The great thing about the bank of Newman is all deposits are accepted. Rain, snow, sleet, power-outage, war, pestulance, nuclear attack, the next ice-age, you name it. WHat ever the circumstance the Bank of Newman will accept your deposits 24/7/365 (366 every fourth year).

Now getting a withdrawal might be different, but I did say he has the "makings of a great banker, its a start.

ABA now accepting market reservations

this ABA press release is equivalent to the needle bouncing on the "E" on your fuel guage. In this case its not low on gas but low on cash.

Among the key targeted states are Connecticut, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

Any current or potential owners who are in the Southeastern Conference or Atlantic Coast Conference states ... I would advise you TO NOT JOIN THE ABA!

Please e-mail The Magician at thesportsdirector@yahoo.com to get more information on opportunities that may be of interest to you in your pursuit of owning and operating a recognized and respected minor-league basketball organization

The ABA does not have the most professional sports package on the market.

The ABA does not have PROFESSIONAL STATUS ... It is a Minor/Semi-Pro League ... and is not recognized nor sanctioned by FIBA or USA Basketball.

The ABA has no working agreement or alliance with the National Basketball Association (NBA)

Do the right thing ... e-mail The Magician today!

The Southeast does not need the ABA ... We will do it the right way, our way, and together!

It's certainly a virus. Don't be spreading any virus in Oregon, Joe.

....Potential owners?

Look at the history of: Cleveland (Lake Erie), Toledo, Canton (Ohio),
Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and the North East Pennsylvania Breakers of
the A.B.A......

If you have the money...Think C.B.A. (Albany, Pikesville, and Pittsburgh)
With Michigan, Indiana and Illinois...You can help build up the region with
quality basketball...
