Believe it or not, caught an owner at number listed on web site, which was at his home !!! Actually got some great comments. Which are all typical "ABA" style talk. One of the best ones:
1. "Yes we are actually going to try as best as possible to play all our games, but dont hold me to that quote, I mean, we will try , our organization will, I cant speak about the other teams, Im sure they will try hard."
This is why its a rec league league IMO.
Im sure everyone will try, but things like having the money will come into play...LOL. I think but IM not sure that some of the NBA and NFL and CBA and MLB owners said the same thing prior to each season.

And that team is....... oh that's right, you never source any of your dribble... we're just supposed to believe you when you post about anything. Please start naming names or stop wasting all of our time.
I really wish this board was like intotheboards.net, which doesn't allow any posts that lack attrubution.....

If someone asks " please dont say who this is" or any other request of that nature I will honor it, otherwise next time they wont talk to me. You can close your eyes and skip my posts. Reality does bite doesnt it when your rec league tries to pretend to be professional.
so since you want to read more, Ill tell you some more of his comments.
" I may have gotten in over my head but hopefully we can make a go of it"
he actually had a good business plan outlined but kinda figured the money would pour in from sponsors because SOMEONE told him the money would pour in.

With the exception of maybe Vermont, ALL ABA "franchises" typically start out with about $10,575.00. We know that $10,000 of that immediately goes to Joe and the $575 helps them get to the ABA League meeting. After that, they have about $33 in the bank and use their debit card (when it clears) to cover small expenses while they scurry to tap the typical ABA revenue sources.
1. Try-outs at $150 a whack, Cash only. Funny thing is, these owners probably bounce more checks then the players, yet THEY are the ones pushing to be paid in cash only. LOL
2. Dance team try-outs. The dance team will be the "face of the franchise" for virtually no cost. Beats advertising because they have NO ad dollars. These poor girls have NO IDEA what they are getting into.
3. Sponsors! The pitch these poor, small mom/pop biz owners on how they will promote their businesses, only to fold half way through the season or play to crowds of 14 or less.
4. Lastly........(drum roll please).......season ticket sales (YEAH.....RIGHT!!!)
