BOSTON ABA TEAM HAS NEW OWNERSHIP, NEW NAME
25-Sep-2007
Boston, MA -- Global Basketball LLC has announced that it has sold the rights of the Boston United Eagles to EMC Enterprises LLC ownership group and will be changing its name to The Boston Blizzard.

The ownership group will change the management group in place and install theirs in the next few days. This dynamic group features a great mix of personalities from basketball and entertainment, a key characteristic of ABA games.

This will in no way change the current season of Boston's inaugural season in the ABA. Some minor changes to the schedule might be made.

Please visit www.thebostonblizzard.com or email thebostonblizzard@gmail.com for more information.

Why does this not suprise me at all? Wonder if game cancellations fall under the "minor changes" they are talking about.

This place just continues to amaze.....................

Boston Frenzy play in UMass Darmouth, which is actually part of New Bedford.

Boston Frenzy move to Cape Cod.

Boston Frenzy change name to Cape Cod Frenzy

Cape Cod Frenzy have 4 different gyms

Cape Cod moves to Manchester New Hampshire and becomes the Millrats

Market reservation "Boston" sold, Boston United Eagles born....now this

I've been to Boston and Cape Cod Frenzy games, they actually ran a resonably good operation. In fact compared too most ABA teams this was a great shining hallmark of what could be. Joes insane scheduling killed them. He consistently had them playing Sunday afternoon games at 1pm. WHich normally is ok, problem is they were always competing with the NE Patriots.

Providence was supposed to get a team, Connecticut too...........empty promises. AGAIN

so when 3 inches of snow falls? that means Joe will say A Blizzard literally hit Boston so games had to be canceled when in all actuality it was Boston that had no dough or the other team never showed up

It is refreshing for a change to be able to click on the webpage link in a new team's press release and actually have it go to a functioning page that looks half-way decent. The Blizzard's only faux pas is that when you click on the "Enter Site Here" it opens up in a new window. And the "blizzard" sounds are kind of annoying. I wish website developers would realize that just because you can put music and sound on a webpage, it doesn't mean you should.

On the other hand, I'm a little disappointed that this team didn't steal the Dairy Queen Blizzard logo as their team's logo.

When you click where it says to, to open the page, at the top it says " The Boston Blizzrd-ABA's Coldest Team LOL

But the site is pretty decent for a a brand new organization

I thought the same thing. And the the next flash screen said "Takin' the country by storm", made it sound like they were ripping everything off from the Takers.

They are ripping off Larry with the sayings.

Oh well did you see the picture of the poor sucker that bought the team??

I rarely look over the site, but I did see the pic and a 'press release', the had the Gwizz problems.

I actually thought if they would have ripped off a logo, that it would be af2's Green Bay Blizzard.

What would their dance team be called? The Snow Drifts?

A new ABA basketball team is coming to Boston??!!!! I checked with the Boston Herald AND the Boston Globe and they had heard nothing. Wouldn't this be the leading story on NESN or the news channels tonight such as FoxSports Boston? It HAS to be the lead in tomorrow on the front page of the Sports section in the Globe and Herald then....it just HAS to be!!! WOW!!!! ohhhhhhh wait a minute, this is the ABA, a rec league with no fan or sponsorship support. My bad. I actually thought it was a REAL LIVE PRO TEAM.

Seriously, do you actually expect the media in Boston to pick up on this? With the Sox heading for the playoffs, Bruins ready to start up, Pats 3-0 and all of the college football in the area, I doubt this will even be a blip on their radar screen.

Fells...... exactly! That is what is so idiotically insane (among a million other things) about the ABA. They put their teams in major markets and couple that with their less than stellar reputation and credibility, the chance of them even getting a box score in the paper is absolutely nil. As for my "excitement" about the ABA coming to Boston, trust me, I was being facetious (sp).
