So where is the ABA JocTrac Stats Link on the ABA homepage for the "official" stats for 2007-2008?
It's getting pretty close to the season ...
I bet the ABA doesn't have the scoring system up and running yet ;)
Ikes, looks like I was right ...
JocTrac has yet to provide the ABA a new version of the software which is being designed to have a similar look to the ABA web page ... so it's not in the hands of the ABA.
Could be "another" year of NO OFFICIAL LEAGUE STATS ...

Time to get that INTERNSHIP program up and moving!
Hey ABA ... In case your JocTrack system does not have the capability.
Don't you think it's time to have ALL the Players listed on the ABA website this year?
Do it similar to Major League Soccer (MLS)
http://web.mlsnet.com/players/
You don't have to create the BIO's ...
Just list ...
Team (Team Abbreviation XXX)
Uniform Number (#)
Player (Player)
Position (POS)
Age (Age)
Last Team (Last Team)
Status (Active, Inactive, NLR) NLR = No Longer Rostered
ABA Experience = # of Seasons played in the ABA (ABA Exp)
When a player is activated or deactived ... The team should contact the league, so a change can be made on the Master List.
When a player leaves the team ... The team should contact the league, so the change can be made on the Master List to NLR.

ABA SELECTS OFFICIAL STATS PROGRAM FOR NEXT SEASON
02-May-2005
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that JocTrac has been selected as the official stats program for the professional basketball league starting next season. According to Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, "The ground-breaking new software will allow ABA fans to have access to team shot charts and individual player shot charts in addition to a myriad of analytical graphs and statistical reports. Stats were definitely one of our problems last season; JocTrac will solve that problem."
Stuart Neale, CEO of Wellspring Software, Inc., the creators of JocTrac added, "All of the statistical information will be available on the Web site for each team and league stats, including team and player comparisons will be available on www.abalive.com. We're not just talking points and rebounds and assists; we're talking touches, made and missed shots, every possible stat you could imagine, presented in a very exciting and unique way. Hopefully, we can test the system in tryout camps and pre-season games."
Ricardson concluded, "The ABA recently established new standards and requirements for its teams to solve some of the problems from last season. Stats were a problem. JocTrac should solve that problem and provide our fans and scouts with as much information about our great ABA players and teams that they could ever want. We're excited."
For more information about JocTrac, contact Stuart Neale at (636) 527-6100 or e-mail stu@joctrac.com
You don't want to rush into something, now, do you?

See Joe looked at JocTrac and loved it but couldn't afford it. So now he has his own unique stats for the Power Rankings. its called JocItch, ya he sits around until he has a sudden urge scratch up any old stats that enter into his head.

....that sometimes we accuse the A.B.A. of actually being a league. With
a real media and stat department....If it weren't for the few individual teams
that keep track...There would have been no A.B.A. records for the past 3
years.

The League office didn't want to spend the money in 2005-2006 ...
Thus it was offered to the individual teams at a heafty price $.
Not many teams bought the actual program ...
In 2006-2007, the price went down, but again, not too many teams bought the actual program.
It would be interesting to find out from JocTrac, how many teams actually purchased the scoring system for 2007-2008?
The ABA CEO doesn't care about STATS because it would provide a historical validation of how many teams have departed the ABA!

It would have been a total (%$*))(&^ waste of money to any team that bought JocTrac. I mean the league pushes it to the individual teams to buy, some of them do and then they email the stats to a basement in Indianapolis. From there they are promptly deleated, ignored or laughed at.

OK -
So the league failed to work out a special deal, or provide the system at cost, or otherwise arrange access for all of its teams - and yet, it was the "official" stat system for the ABA.
Following that logic, Joe can put out a press release that Jaguar is the "official" car of the ABA, or Cristal is the "official" champagne. Serves the same purpose...

They'll end up doing stats by hand on the sidelines again, and w/e team gives them(ABA) a copy they will do something with it

I don't think thats how it works tbayz1.
The ABA does nothing with the stats. Joe is laboring under the delusion that by not having stats he is still running a basketball league. He must think there is something he is hiding from to not push for stats. Even the most last ditch effort they make when a player goes somewhere else "the aba is a great league to showcase yourself and get an overseas' contract" is moot. If you can't find stats how do you judge a player from afar
It would be like if Joe ran a bank but never sent out statements or have a website thats updated so people can log in and figure out a balance.
Q- How many teams are in the ABA
A- between 40-50 teams this year
Q- How much money is in my account
A- between 40-50 bucks
Neither one of those are acceptable answers for any business.

Shot charts? Rebounds?
The ABA can barely keep accurate standings on its website let alone individual stats.....

Man, Don't look for up-to-date ABA stats for this upcoming season.
Although the JocTrac stats page should be up on the ABA site, it appears that only a very few # of teams out of the entire league purchased the updated JocTrac software.

It's pretty tough to get the above info from guys you grabbed off the local playground earlier in the day. And I doubt the ABA server has enough memory to keep track of all the transactions most teams have....

Take from this what you will. According to last years "excel" spreadsheet records there were 578 total wins and 531 total losses in the league.

I actually do stats and video analysis for the NBA and when I offered to do an abbreviated service to all ABA teams, I heard back from no team official. Not even an email telling me, 'no thanks'.
When I offered the PBL the same service, I was told they are contracted out with a statistical company (name was not disclosed).
