Lets play a little game. Predict the finish of the top 8 teams in the ABA based on the ABA power rankings put out after the end of the regular season.

(power rankings is how the playoffs are seeded)

Heres mine -

1. Vermont
2. Texas
3. Corning
4. Detroit
5. Jacksonville
6. Buffalo
7. Quebec
8. Strong Island

Would it be easier to predict which 8 teams will still be playing come playoff time?

I will say this, though, you appear to have listed 8 teams that do have a chance of survival... ;)

ohhahahahhahahahhah.

Couldn't go two <removed by admin> posts without a boring, predictable attempt at a joke.

I was just about to respond to this thread with my top 8.

Killed it.

When the ABA does something that renders these jokes meaningless, then they will stop.

Couldn't go two goddam posts without a boring, predictable attempt at a joke.

It wasn't meant as a joke.

And there is no way to legitimately predict a top 8 for two reasons:

1. We really don't know which franchises will still be operational at Great Eight time and...

2. We don't have rosters.

I really don't think predicting 8 random teams based on absolutely no knowledge of all of the team rosters is a valuable exercise.

I do think there's a better chance, right now, of picking the 8 franchises with the best chance of being around for the Great Eight than the 8 teams that will make it to the tournament.

We *may* be able to guess at the 8 best teams in the league by the start of the season.

Assuming that we get schedules and rosters, and that they'll be valid for more than 48 hours, that is.

And we're all supposed to feel sorry that you didn't post your top 8?

I have only one question mark and that belongs to Corning but we will see on November 10.

I posted elsewhere -
but it is impossible to put together a list of 'top teams' without any knowledge of who plays for these teams, or what their situation is going into the season.

You're better off picking the top 8 team logos or team names; at least we know them.

Again not a knock; just that the lists are premature.

Trying to predict the Top 8 finishers in an ABA season is like trying to predict who's going to win American Idol after the first day of auditions.

My money's usually on the perky blonde girl with the nice body, and while that worked one year (Carrie Underwood), it failed me the season afterward (Kellie Pickler).

Right now all we've got in terms of an ABA season is Kevin Covais (Corning), John Stevens (Maywood), Corey Clark (Orlando), Sanjaya Malakar (Houston), Sundance Head (Strong Island), Nikki McKibbin (Reno) and Antonella Barba (Jersey).

Maybe I'll just put my money on the team from Utica.

If Alex Sells Vermont ( yes he is selling) than Corning will win the ABA chumpionship since Corning's "gardner" got on OSC and defended the ABA.
Joe 's new kiss ass boy will win it all. Thats if there is an ABA by Nov 1.

First I have heard of it. Somehow I doubt Alex is selling the team......

a1 - is it possible you have this mixed up in Alex's idea to sell ownership blocks or LP's to some people in Vermont last year?

I have mixed emotions about the Frost Heaves, I think they are a great team and a great organization, but Alex has dropped a couple of notches on the journalistic food chain IMO. That being said, I hope this is hype and Alex stays with it.
