Although we will be hosting the All-Star game next season, Pittsburgh is hosting the CBA Draft next week.

Huh?!? Have things changed THAT much since the days I followed the CBA religiously? I thought the draft was held at CBA headquarters and all the teams participated by conference call...usually, at some local bar and grill. Is that what you mean...Pittsburgh is hosting a draft party?

This years Best Kept Secret is ....

Gary Neal from Towson, Dude left LaSalle amid rade allegations, transferred to Towson and put up 25 ppg the last two years, including a 41 point effort this past year vs. Samford. Last season he scored 30 or more pts 10x's.

Two other guys to look out for are Blake Ahern of Missouri State and Quin Humphrey of Youngstown State.

Ahearn was a 2-guard in college that will have to make the jump to PG due to his height 6' 2". He shot 47% from 3-pt range last year and led his team to a huge upset of #7 ranked Wisconsin by scoring 25 points.

the league press release, Ken, you will see that it's taking place at the Holiday Inn at the Parkway East(which is less than a half hour from me). I guess times have changed, like it or not.

No they haven't. It's still done by teleconference.

done by teleconference and every team will be hosting their own Draft party in their respective city's. But the actual draft will be coming from here, in Pgh.

Send pics of the CBA execs, then....

that either you feel it should be in Albany, or you don't believe that Pittsburgh should get it, for some reason.

that either you feel it should be in Albany, or you don't believe that Pittsburgh should get it, for some reason.

Or that you are easily confused and misunderstood what was actually going on in Pittsburgh.

psbf

that was possible, but when I read the press release of each team, two of them said that the Draft will originate here and the Xplosion's release said that they will be hosting it. So I see no confusion.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but several news releases from the CBA website say the draft will originate in Pittsburgh.

This page officially announces the draft:
http://www.cbahoopsonline.com/news.php?read=957

The Albany Patroons's website also lists the draft as originating in Pittsburgh.

Being new to the league, I don't know what was done in the past, but like I said, it doesn't really matter to me (I'm just tired of the bickering).

As for me, I'll be at the Pikeville Applebees watching it from the EK Miners draft party!

Mathprof. It's good to see someone knows how to read a press release. I don't see what the problem is either.

I didn't read the press release until last night. I only knew that the CBA draft originated from headquarters in the past. Will you take photos at the draft?

Neal is not too secret. He has signed to play in Turkey according to Eurobasket. Ironically he is replacing Humphrey.

Good for Neal, There are too many unsigned veteran free agents on the open market this year, call up's would have been tough to come by so taking that Euro money is the best bet. He must have signed within the past day or so because I have'nt heard anything on that front, however, I don't believe Humphrey has signed anywhere. If I were a
of a CBA team I'd take dude in one of the 1st two rounds. With these CBA teams going small, he'd make a great off guard or small forward. If a team went with a four-guard line up he could play the 4. In todays CBA he could play 3 positions.

This is what puzzles me about this year's draft. Why hold it in Pittsburgh where the the CBA gets little coverage (darned Steelers hogging-up the news again)? I haven't seen any mention in the local press yet. There's always tomorrow, but tomorrow is the actual day of the draft.

I don't understand why the draft isn't being held in Albany, but then again...there's a lot I don't understand. I guess the CBA wants to showcase Pittsburgh. Problem is, the media isn't cooperating.

Ken, I don't know if the Xplosion have, but I have contacted both local papers to inform them of the event, but have not seen anything mentioned, unfortunately. Instead, all I see are of the Pens and Steelers. I've also contacted the X for their need to promote themselves more.

to add that having said that and despite negative posts about having it here, I'm still glad that it's here. Hopefully there will be some coverage tomorrow.

At least the P-G put in a mention Xplosion and the draft, although they got the coach's name wrong. The other paper had nothing.

Soooooooo, what was the draft party like at draft headquarters? Were any draftees present?
