In an amazing, astounding turn of events, the Utica Wreckers of the American Basketball Association announced that all their players for the team's second season of ABA operation will be outfitted with Bobo's Sneakers. The Wreckers came to this conclusion after discovering that this brand of sneakers made their feet feel fine, and were the right price at less than $2 per pair.

"The Wreckers are extremely pleased and proud to be associated with this outstanding company," said Wreckers spokesperson Abia Ausichser. "Bobo's history and tradition is one of quality and affordability - in fact, there have been songs written about the wearing and manufacture of Bobo's sneakers - and we have no doubt that Bobo's will once again resume its place as one of the premier basketball shoe companies in the world."

"With my corns and bunions, I didn't think I could fit into those Pony sneakers," said 54-year-old Wreckers forward Schultz Dooley. "I got arch problems, you know, and I need something that won't give me foot pains by the second quarter. I hear these Bobo's will do the trick."

"Someone told me that if I wear a name brand like Bobo's," said new acquisition Mark "The Scew" McSechclure, "it would improve my shooting percentage, strengthen my defensive skills, and make me a better performer in bed. Well, since I need help in all three areas, it probably wouldn't hurt to put on a pair of Bobos."

Not every player was as enthralled about wearing the low-cut tennis shoes. 10-year-old shooting guard Purlie Scarvin needed to be convinced that the Bobo's shoes would work for him on the court. "I'll wear these during the game, but not in school - all the kids at school will laugh at me if I wear these things," said Scarvin. "Heck, I'd even put on a pair of Starburys or British Knights if it meant I'd get less razzing in school."

The origin of Bobo's is unknown, it may have started as a discount sneaker company in New Jersey or Massachusetts, but the shoe brand quickly spread to become one of the most distinctive sports brands in the world. Bobo's shoes later achieved fame in the mid-1970's with their classic jingle, as sung to the melody of "The Bridge On the River Kwai" -

Bobos... they make your feet feel fine!
Bobos... they cost a dollar ninety nine!
Bobos... they're made by hobos!
So buy your Bobos at Woolworth's today!!

"Bobo's is one of the few athletic footwear brands that has successfully outfitted kids whose parents are on a tight budget," stated newly hired Bobo's CEO Bill Corona. "We are in a rebuilding stage and we look forward to rebuilding Bobo's to its former glory, while also looking at strategic alliances to grow and complement the Company. The Wreckers are just such an alliance. The Bobo's shoes we create will including groundbreaking designs and of course, affordability. We'll even knock off 10 cents for every pair of sneaker laces the Wreckers provide from other sources. We are genuinely excited to be a part of this unique team."

I had 2 wisdom teeth chopped out of my trap yesterday, but that story made me smile wider than I should have!!

I wonder if those shoes are available with Velcro. If any player is dumb enough to sign with an ABA team, I seriously doubt that they can tie shoes.
"Hey ABA star, how much is 2 + 2 ?" " Jello?"

Speaking of marketing opportunities...

Basketball meets Chippendales!

While being so busy getting the dance teams going, Joe Newman perhaps misses the bigger picture. After all, women have been highly disappointed with the NBA ever since they started wearing those huge shorts.

Just saying...

so is that the reason all these women are after MMA stars now?
