Lets see...2 years ago, the two best teams were San Diego & Mesa, huh where are they today.....GONE:mad:. Last year, I believe it was Fullerton & Reno, Fullerton had to bring in new owners, and change their name. Reno may be forced out by a AAA team. This year Chico & Long Beach, rumors are Long Beach is history, well and Chico will always be popular, what else is there.

I wonder who's next, I guess we will find out next year when they release the 2008 schedule.

The only teams playing in So.Cal next year will be the Dodgers, Angels and Padres. I hear the prisons in No.California have great softball. Good Luck GBL

I sure do hope that there are other choices next year besides the Dodgers, Angels and Padres because I can't afford them. Heck, I barely even enjoy them as a live event.

I much prefer pro baseball on TV and minor league baseball live.

can someone give me more info on them? that sounds like fun! i enjoy spending money on these types of leagues i just won't spend another penny on the GBL not only that i have informed my friends and family and my neighborhood where i pushed it so hard last year and had good turnouts not to support this league anymore and explained why and luckily they agreed. it is our money our support that keeps these teams in business in our communities and if they will not listen to us then we will stop supporting them.

Make the drive and come up to Fullerton, with me, and support the Flyers! These guys deserve it, and you will see some really fun things, and changes, going on up in the OC before next season.

This is not "news", but certainly is a "hook" for what may be coming next...

Time will tell, but for now, just get on the Flyers' bandwagon!

How is everyone doing, by the way?

Go Dodgers!

Information you're seeking...

http://westernbaseballassociation.com/

It's similar to most of the NCAA wood bat leagues around the US, but the league has been around for many years and is well established. There are also no restrictions placed on player types, so there are some minor leaguers just released, on rehab or just a friend of someone who is playing. Examples: Bochy's son pitches for the North County Waves. Sean Balteff, who played in the AWL, was signed, released, and then picked back up by the GBL, also pitched for the NC Waves. The teams all play at local fields and there is no cost involved. And, you will also see that there are teams up North as well, as far up as San Luis Obispo (sp?).

The league is an National Baseball Congress affiliate. Which means, any team who qualifies via winning the league or a sanctioned tournament, wins a bid to the NBC World Series held every year in Wichita, KS.

The baseball is good, fun and mostly used for development purposes. But, the product itself does not match what the GBL has the ability to produce. And, maybe, JUST maybe...if we all found a way to take a little bit more ownership of the teams the GBL puts in our cities, we might be able to make it what we desire. Especially given some of the great ideas that seem to always be floating around, once you get past all the negative stuff...my thought, "flush the bowl, and get some clean water".

Just a humble opinion...

If any of you want to discuss some ideas that I have on how to specifically assist the GBL to become what we all want it to be, I have some ideas, and they will work. I also have some people in my corner on these ideas.

More importantly, I would like to get YOUR ideas, as well. Sorry to be so vague, but if you want to talk, start by emailing me at ehart@usctrojans.com.

Hope all is well!
