The Bahama Pro Show? What the hell is that? Since owning a lounge in the Bahamas makes you a business example for owning a pro sport team, why not set up the Ace Hardware Basketball League. Owners of hardware stores around the country could be owners, since they are pillars of the community and business leaders. We could have the following teams in the AHBA.
Pittsburgh Pipe Wrenches
Allentown Allen Wrenches
Reno Ratchets
Washington Wheelbarrows
Florida Fertilizers
Syracuse Spray Paints
Sacramento Sandpapers
Akron Axle Greasers
San Diego Screen Doors
Hackensack Hacksaws
Toledo Toilet Seats
Pensacola Pipe Nipples
Long Island 60w Light Bulbs
Chicago Claw Hammers
Louisiana Lint Traps
St. Louis String of Christmas Lights
Montreal Mothballers
Fresno Replacement Faucets
Ace is the place with the helpful basketball man!!

Are you capable of a post that has actual ideas, or are you strictly able to come up with things that are obnoxious and pointless?

Yup, he is actually funny and his posts have a point to them. He can write and uses actual quotes and historical information from Newman and the league to write something creative. Yours just seem to come from someone who is bitter and who has a grudge with the league.

Exactly how far fetched is this idea? How far removed from a slapped together rec-league would this be? How much further advanced is the ABA from my idea?
Here is my point.......anyone of us could assemble a basketball league where nothing happens. How hard would it be to collect money from teams, sit back and watch it crash and burn time and time again. Perhaps your missing my point. My AHBA idea might be far fetched and ridiculous, but isn't the ABA also? Players paying $150 to tryout? They'll be lucky to earn $150 if they make the team. Every team is obsessed with dance teams, but they have no players yet? Short courts, no record keeping, My idea is obnoxious? Compare them side by side and tell me the difference. At least Ace Hardware can sponsor its own league and pay bills. Can Newman do that?

The Ripknees, Throwbacks, First State Fusion, Gwizzlies, Pro Show, and Takers?? And MY ideas are goofy??

....not sure who/what whafan is, but he/she/it does have a bit of a point here.
Chuck's may be more creative (and more funny to most readers), but they are no less biting and we must be honest, they are just as pointless, aside from their attempt to entertain. I do find them (Chuck's posts) funny myself.
So, we can criticize Whafan for not being as good at it, but I'm not sure it's fair to comment as "Fells the Moderator" in that the regard. Aside from bad humor, were any other line really crossed? Is "pointless" now a criteria to post...if so, we won't have much action here.
Just my two cents.

How is this for pointless? Grown men crapping themselves over new ABA teams that will be gone before Thanksgiving. 12 people sitting in the crowd, new teams showing up weeks before a season begins, 3 idiots willing to pay to see these rec-league teams play on a computer broadcast, crooked owners, con artist management, and a huge steaming pile of crap for a product.........and MY ideas are pointless?
Anyone who EVER logs into this ABA site has done something pointless. Personally, I enjoy seeing the failure. It makes me chuckle!! No matter who owns what, where or when, its a disaster, and I can't get enough of people ruining each others lives with deceipt, lies, underhanded dealings and broken promises. This is great stuff!!

A1 is right. Moderate not judge.
Fells and a lot of what he says make sense, to me. I don't like a lot of A1 postings, but I have to side with A1 here.

Let's ease up a bit. The only point Chris is making is that posting the same thing over and over without any additional information isn't doing anyone any good. There are some people who occassionally contribute good, factual information, but often we have to wade through literally dozens of posts restating their opinion of the league to find it. I know sometimes it is tempting to post your input each and every time the league is mentioned, but when you begin to annoy even those who agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, perhaps it is time to just take a half step back. Remember, these boards are read by newbies and old-timers alike. If you come across as unfair and biased to those who don't know the entire history of the league, are you doing yourself any good?
