Which owners are ready if Jaloza gets the license ( which IMO looks good) and are prepared either to:

1. Pay him to use the ABA logo and name
2. Have a contingency plan in place.

Usually rec leagues have no idea of what to do. is the same case here?

Ill wait until I see that Jaloza wins his case to discuss about this. If he doesnt like I said a1 in a preivous thread, your going to look dumb since hes been praising Jaloza all summer.

Will it(decision) be soon?

I doubt any teams will pay Jalozza if he wins. They'll just continue playing the schedule w/ a new league name/logo - the fans dont care what the league is called - if they come to the games its for something to do or they support their local team or players.

It will probably be a blessing in disguise if it happens.

Joe Newman didn't get to 70 and still in business without a couple of trump cards up his sleeve.

We might see............ABA2007 or ABL or Alberta Basketball Association(ABA), American BBasketball Association, or ABA06er

I'd be very cagey with Mr. Newman, he's been backed into corners before.

Joe will call it the Premiere Basketball Association or the Continental Premiere Basketball Association just to screw around

The only certainty I am confident of is Joseph Newman will think of something and yes, it will leave him inwardly grinning, posters on OSC posting and someone somewhere angry.

The ABA name isn't really relevant anymore and Newman knows it.

I have no doubt he has a name, logo, and website parked waiting for the court to strip him of the ABA license.

And think of the money he'll be saving by not having to pay the NBA for the use of the ABA name.

Yeah, he'll come out of this OK. Of course, minor pro basketball won't... :)

Hey Guys,

Cutt A1 sports a break because it could be worse...........

He could go drunk driving on a regular basis and have felony charges pending against him in the court of law like some other people we know of.

if the ABA wins A1 needs to buy a franchise

a1sports

or I could blindly follow "fearless leader" and waste money on a franchise and think I was in a "pro" league..!

as George Stedill an old sports guy at AP wire service said " ABA? thats no pro league, we dont acknowledge it here.

Why attack Rochester? Makes no sense, there not in your league, you wish they were in your league so you could go to Rochester in their big stadium and say look at me Im a pro ball owner,...but that aint gonna happen kid.

He could blow all his capital on a pointless road trip to Florida that will sound the death knell of his struggling franchise....

Jazola could win and collect nothing, since the ABA apparently has no assets (which, unless Joe is lying to the SEC with his filings, appears to be true). He might have rights to the name and trademarks "ABA" but right now, they aren't worth a whole lot.
Jazola could lose on appeal, and if the filings with the SEC are true, the ABA could still run out of money (hence many of the suddenly appearing franchises, providing Joe his $10,000 a pop, long after it was announced there would be no new teams).
Jazola is trying to prove (and the court has already found in his favor on many of these points) he is part owner of an enterprise that has been bleeding cash for the past seven years and has blown through about $2,000,000 in less than a year. (Could they find in his favor and make him liable for ABA debts????????????)
Now where he could actually collect. Joe paid himself and Tinkham quite a bit of money (in the six figures each (the exact figures are around here somewhere) and much, much less to Brad). If any of that cash is still around, he might be able to collect some damages.
That's where all of this is relevant.
It's all in court where anything could happen from absolutely nothing to the end of the ABA. We'll all just have to wait and see.
All the name calling and ankle biting on all sides of this is where it is not.
Until then, let's all play nice here in the sandbox or I'm telling mommy and someone is going to sit time out. 8)

All the things said about the Corning owner are at least a ring of truth, most likely more true than ABA cares to know.

Still, isn't this a second violation for Hrywnak?
