View Full Version : The NIFL kills another franchise

After a personal best record in the NIFL it appears the Shockwave will fall into its own crack. The team will halt all operations for the 2008 season in any league. They have commited to come back in the 2009 season, With reasons as to no exsisting league close enough to the west coast it appears that the NIFL has swallowed up another team. :mad:

I have to believe that the owners of the San Diego franchise were NOT in the dark about the "STATE OF THE LEAGUE" when the season started. They made their bed...

I feel sad that you have been played by the NIFL, CG, CS this way! I only hope that the year off will result in a real league for you the fans and reward your loyalty.

Funny- nothing screams hypocrite like a hater hating. Oh, and nothing screams "WE DON'T HAVE A BRAIN" by leaving a sham of a league (NIFL) just to go to one that is probably worse off (AIFA).

While the AIFA isn't great there is NO WAY that you can say that it's worse than the NIFL!!! Cleveland Gary is clueless when it comes to running a a league. All the promises that he continued to make last year----- including multiple trips to Cincinnati with "investors". I put my knee high boots on and I still got covered in sh*t it was so deep!
The AIFA may not have a great business model but at least they are playing games and teams don't have to create their own championship game that doesn't include a PLAYOFF SYSTEM.

You know marshall, if you weren't a fellow Raiders fan, i might try to think up some sort of argument, but you are right- AIFA might not be worse, but I think we can safely say that it is well on its way to being just as bad. Definitely not a move up simply because it hasn't messed up its playoff yet. It is still setting itself up for the same problems and has good teams (e.g. Wyoming) so far away from everyone else that I wouldnt be surprised if they can't make a dime this year b/c of travel.

You know noize, i am impressed that you were able to bring yourself up to a point of technological competence, but you apparently forgot an important detail. Though you can get rid of the things you write in threads (e.g. "i am leaving forever because you guys are mean" *wah*) the quotes still show that you wrote in the thread. tread here (http://www.oursportscentral.com/boards/showthread.php?t=7357)
Does it seem weird to anyone else that I have several quotes from noize in that tread, but he suddenly and mysteriously doesn't have any posts? Don't be confused, he is simply trying to hide the fact that he ran away once.

They are not playing in 2008, they can't play in the UIF as they can't seem to buy their way into that league. And no one wants them in the AIFA.
Maybe the fans and the Sprowls should take a hint and go back to Carolyn and Cleveland and see if you can buy into their 16 Million Dollar scheme. There's a match made in football heaven, make sure you bring Jamie LaMunyon along as your director of promotions.

I'd hope the UIF would grow westward with some bridging teams before bringing in a SoCal team. I think SD would be a good add to the UIF, but thats a pretty big travel budget for SD as things stand now.
Offer the league? Jamie Lamunyon in operations and promotions, no dasher pads, nobody in the stands to watch a game. Wasn't Eric Sellers part of management at the beginning? Maybe his insight on how to run a team would elevate everyone in the UIF to a higher standard, call Bozeman, MT and get references! Yeah, I hope everyone goes to the SD seminar on how to run a team.

With all do respect- nobody was even talking about this. The Shockwave have apparently dropped it and are moving on to other adventures, and a comment like this is just going to start that whole debate over again. Everyone has their own side to the story, and no two sides are going to agree, ever. Why beat a dead cat?
With that said, there were no NIFL champions for 2007, so I think we can all agree that the real losers were the fans in all the demographics that did not get to be a part of the wyo/fay game, because they supported their teams' chase for a non-existent title. At least wyo and fay got to make-up a title.
Surfing Aztec - you are absolutely right. The problem is that the other SD fans on this messageboard do not understand the reason why Wy & Fay had to go on their own to finish the year without SD. That is where the frustration lies for those of us that know what transpired.
I appreciate your thoughts and I wished that SD was going to have a team in 2008. Especially for those fans that embraced SD in the first year in the NIFL. But from the sounds of the rumorville, even if they did have a team in SD, they wouldn't have a league to play in anyway.
I enjoyed watching your team when they came to Texas and thought they were professional on and off the field.
