View Full Version : Silverados rival
I learned that the Development league also has a team in RGV for this season. Based in Hidalgo(unable to find on the map) where the Vipers will play. I don't know where that is to McAllen, where the Silverados will be. But it sounds like an interesting rivalry and border battle. Both are new this season.

I do not see both lasting for the long-term.
Question is: Who will kill the other team?

Dodge Arena (Vipers) is about eight miles away from the McAllen Convention Center (Silverados).

I'm going to see them both play over Thanksgiving and probably a couple more times during the season. I'll let you know the score.

From what I hear the CBA team looks much more well-run than the D-League.
at both websites, I agree. I think the Silverados looks better.

The Silverados had a head start and really had their act together -- which is why they left the ABA. Ultimately you can't tell much from just the websites. I think the smaller Convention Center is a more realistic venue for minor league basketball down there, but a lot may depend on the ability to draw support from Mexico.
I know one guy who works for the Vipers and he's pretty excited about the team for what that's worth. I'll see if I can get any info. Were I them I'd go out of my way to take JR Pinnock in the expansion draft and/or get a few more Spanish speaking players to help with the marketing.
the Silverados play at the Convention Center, otherwise I may think you were playing favorites with the other team. Personally, I want the Silverados to succeed, since the Xplosion play them this coming season. I'm glad to see that the Silvers have the head start.

I want the better team to succeed. One team will probably have to move, but there are multiple minor league baseball teams in the valley for instance, so they may not have to move far.
