Any chance on getting a tryout for the ahl or echl or any minor league for that matter without playing college and just turning 24 yrs old?? Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated thanks. Anthony

I'd be getting on the phone now. Most of the camps start within the next few days. You'd have a better shot with low-minor teams or one of these newer leagues. Without any college or major junior experience, I'd say your chances of getting a tryout in the AHL or ECHL are slim to none. I see an occasional player out of the other junior leagues (I can't think of the classification, (junior A?) but it would be like the Manitoba Junior Hockey League or Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League) that makes it to the CHL, but usually not more than a half-dozen from that level that makes it. I don't think many from that level made the UHL. There might have been a few in the SPHL, but there are others on these boards who know the UHL and SPHL a little better than I do.

If the league that had Findley and Dansbury come back, that might be an option.
There was some northeastern Canadian semi-pro league (again, I can't remember the name) that might work for you, but they had kind of a reputation as a goon league.

I'd say good luck and you'd better get cracking.

Your best bet might be the MAHL or the PDHL.

thanks guys i really appreciate it. it looks like i missed pretty much all tryouts and camps already for this season tho. I guess i will just practice my ass off this season and pay attention to everyones website for next yrs camps. Im thinking about trying to get in some practice time with my local college team. That would probably be a good way to keep in shape. thanks again for everything. if you have any other suggestions or anything i would appreciate that too.
