If that don't beat all....
One thing I've got to say about the SCL, there's no shortage of excitement - both on and off the field. Desi Wilson has been traded to the Peanuts for Chris Demons.
Bye Desi, we're gonna miss ya! :-D
It's a good thing the Joes are finished playing against the Peanuts this year!

Odd unexpected trade to say the least. I hope he does well and maybe they traded him with hopes of him winning it all with the Peanuts. Who knows the reason behind it should be intresting!

From "Straight Kash", the pregame show on ESPN radio:
Kash Beauchamp said that this trade may seem crazy, but what he is doing for Anderson with Chris Demons is building for "next year".
For Desi Wilson, it puts him with a playoff team, gives him a chance to pick up a couple of extra paychecks, and GIVES HIM A CHANCE TO LEARN TO COACH FROM WALLY BACKMAN  !
Kash, you had me up to that last point...
Sounds like Kash isn't expecting to make it to the playoffs. Anderson still has a "mathematical" chance, but the Joes would have to win most if not all of its remaiing games, and count on a complete breakdown from Bradenton, South Georgia, and Macon. How 'bout it guys? Give a kid a shot. :p
Another thing: Anderson has now had 9 walk off wins this year. And 5 more games where they scored the winning run in their last at bat (road games).
I'm going to start a petition to officially change the team name to the
Anderson "Cardiac Joes"

Good logic but this year isnt up yet! 16-13 win and the sweep tonight! I got nervous for a while tonight but they held on. Wild game wonder if any records were sat hits and runs wise for either or both teams.

I think it was a Joes team record for both runs (16) and rbis (15).
They tied the team record for hits (17) and stolen bases (5).
Richard Quishuis-Bell went 4 for 5 with a triple, three runs and 5 rbis. The 5 RBI tied a team record for most in a game for a single player.
This game was a league record for total runs in a game (29).
This makes three straight wins over Bradenton, which is also a FIRST for Anderson.
Joes pitcher Ronald Ball may have set a record with the number of walks in a game. I think he had at least eight.
As for the Joes, this is the first time they've been above .500 since opening night! (May 18 )

Yep Fan, that is a strange trade. Not least because it seems a little bit early to throw in the towel, especially given your second-half turnaround.

It's been really great watching your team do a turnaround, really would have liked them in the play-offs. But, if you can't have the whole team, how 'bout one of 'em?! Should be fun to watch -- and yes, maybe he can learn about coaching from the Back Man ;). Hope to see your team again next year and I personally like the name -- especially its logo. If I weren't a Peanuts fan, I'd be rooting for the Joes. Go Desi!

Hey Nuck,
Yeah Desi is really going to be missed in Anderson. I think his "coaching by playing" was the spark that turned things around. To see a thirty-something year old guy giving his all out in the outfield diving for the ball, stealing bases, really inspired the fans and motivated the team. Desi is the only player on the team my wife could recognize - he's huge!
Chris Demons did well for the Joes too, against the fish last night, going 2 for 3 with two stolen bases.
One thing the trades do for the league - and I'm strictly speaking from a fans point of view: It makes it hard to pull against another team in a "negative" way, you know what I mean? When the Joes were playing against Charlotte County this week, there were so many former Joes now playing for the Redfish, it was almost like an in-squad scrimmage. No way I can whole-heartedly root against Billy Hogan, Millard Dawson, and Aaron Easton! Same for Desi Wilson. Maybe he will be the new manager for the Peanuts next year!
Since the Joes have pretty much stopped wearing the throwback uniforms, due to the long baggy sleeves, maybe they should auction those things off at the end of the season. I love that logo too!
Hey, I'm hearing rumors of a "Joes season ticketholders" vs. "Joes Team office" softball game at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Anybody heard of this? Any other teams doing a wacky end of season get-together?

JoesFan,
I'm sure Desi will be missed more by the fans than anyone. During his time in Chico (GBL) , he was trully the fan favorite!! I had the chnace to meet him during the 2006 GBL All Star game, what a personality!!
We sure miss him in the GBL:mad:

Shouldn't there be a trading deadline at least between teams in the SCL ?

On the radio broadcast of the joes the other night the radio guy mentioned that all trades, waivers and signings were done for the year. i think it was right after desi was traded. Maybe first away game after that.
