What I heard was the All Star game was cancelled and that it was because of logistics of getting players to Aiken etc. I am guessing that it might have been financial with all the rumors that are out there concerning all the financial woes of the SCL.

Does anyone know anything else?

Havent heard anything close to that and i hope i dont. I think the game being decently close driving distance I probably will try to attend.

Unfortunately I have found that the rumor is TRUE! NO SCL All-star game or Banquet. In fact the decision was made just over a week ago. Season ticket holders got letters saying they needed to have their money in by August 11th and then single game tickets were to have gone on sale on the 13th. Evidently there were several season ticket holders that had paid for the banquet and the game and were very unhappy.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come .... although it's not going to get better having 2 teams that need to find places to play most likely next season. Seems that Charlotte County will have to play on a practice field next season. That won't exactly bring in the big bucks. I expect to see them moving at this seasons end too!

Good Ball BBK3,
I just read on the SCL site that the All-Star game has indeed been canceled.

JoesFan,
Don't feel left out, I went to the GBL All Star game last year in Chico.. we had a blast, watch Jose canseco win the HR Derby...and a game winning HR in the 8th..

And then came this year... NO All Star Game even scheduled...sad..:(

There is a valid point - they did admit a mistake in planning the game for post-season. Unless there's some kind of financial benefit, the players just want to get home after the season ends. Come to any minor league park the day AFTER the season, and you'll be amazed at how fast the place clears out.

Now, why these guys didn't understand that from the start, who knows? But if the players don't want to play, there won't be any sponsors or site or anything else, so the financials wouldn't work out anyway.

So maybe next year it'll be mid-season like everyone else does it. Re-inventing the wheel... not always the way to go.

Are your really an old fat guy:D Gives me such a mental image dude. Anyhow, whether or not you're fat, you're certainly smart! I agree -- why plan an All Star game post season? What about the guys who made it who aren't on the play-off teams? They should stick around and wait? It was poor planning and hopefully next year they rethink it because I'd like to see a good All Star game myself.

I questioned having the all star game at the end of the season when I saw the schedule for the first time.
The all star game could be used as a good break in the season to seperate the first half from the second.
The way this league is set up geographically you could have all the teams close to the location of the game and not create issues with getting players to the game.
