Reno ?

Has anyone heard of any talk about Reno getting involved in the AFL2??
We have a general population of 500,000, with the possibility of a new 10,000 seat arena in early 2009 at the "Legends at Sparks Marina "

I have heard the rumor for ECHL or CHL and NBA-D League but nothing about Football.

Good luck to you, but I think Reno is a lot like Tucson in terms of minor league sports: both are big enough to be great minor league markets but neither, for different reasons, support their teams and they die off.

I find it a little ironic that Reno may get the Tucson Sidewinders to relocate there if they can get a stadium deal finished.

Reno couldn't keep a single A team in the California League. I have no idea who in their right mind thinks they'll be able to support a AAA team.

Maybe a team would do fine there in a new stadium, but I doubt it. Tucson is trying to build a new downtown arena to get minor league hockey and indoor football as well. But, minor league hockey has already failed in Tucson (as well as Reno....both had WCHL franchises).

What would be different this time around except the novelty of a new arena? Once that wears off in a few years, I would seriously assume that attendance would drop way off and the financial losses would begin to mount.
