An article from The Saginaw News (mlive.com 8/10/07) states that the owners of the Kalamazoo Xplosion are looking into a possible expansion team in Saginaw. The article mentions that the Flint-based Michigan Pirates (formerly Port Huron) may have folded after losing in the championship match.
The Pirates switched to the Michigan name in hopes of marketing to Mid-Michigan cities like Saginaw and others, along with Flint.
The article also mentions that the Extreme league has also contacted Saginaw about hosting a team and says that "The Extreme league is a new one that would base all of its teams in Michigan . . . "
