What if...Jaloza sends out a CEASE and DECIST to all the teams, based on his judgement, that the ABA teams shall stop using the ABA logo and name.
lets see if they are aware of there own business. Shouldnt they have been notified of this decision?
Lets see how prepared these owners are.
Interesting question.
So I called a few teams, ( a few didnt answer the phone, so whats new)BUT one owner told me Joe told him not to worry about it. Another owner said he talked to Brad, but Brad said he KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE JALOZA THING ! He said HE IS KEPT OUT OF THE LOOP. And a one owner had NO idea of what I was asking. Now keep in mind the few answers I got, didnt come easy...the usual, no one answers the phone, a line is disconnected, a phone rings in someones home, or the call goes right to voice mail.
SO these "Business" men - owners, IMO are clueless in Life.
Wanted to call Alex....but enough is enough of his stonewalling BS,yea everything is good.
BIG problem is the ABA didnt notify the SEC of that Judgement....NOT GOOD.As of last wednesday there is nothing in the filings that I saw.

Just speculating, but how many owners would volunteer any information to a random phone caller about pending litigation? Most people/organizations adopt a stance that they will not comment on an active lawsuit.
Granted, this is against Joe and Dick more than the other owners, but unless they are involved behind the closed door, what will they really be able to say? They will know only what Joe tells them anyway.
Email Joe and ask him directly. You'll definitely get a reply. While it may not be the answer you seek (what, exacty, is that answer, anyway??), it will surely be the highest of comedy...

I find it strange that you didnt call me considering for months I have been asking you to contact me on some issues and you never respond. I also find it strange that Brad would tell another fellow owner that he doesnt know anything about considering Joe is his stepfather and he did leave Lowes for this job. All that and you think an owner really believe that Brad doesnt know anything, come on man do I have "damn fool" on my forhead or something. After all, Brad has given information to me when in referenced about the case thats going on and information thats accurate. You guys jump down my throat about a myspace page and call me cheap but yet if you look, I have a toll free number. That means I pay for your calls and I am still waiting for a1 to call me and discuss his issues. The same invitation that I gave Standards and he excepted and we are real cool friends now, so much that I shared an awesome funding project that he could use for his franchise. Thats the kind of person that I am but yet A1 has dodged me over and over again.
You guys can believe this BS if you want to but I told you that this guy is suspect to me and thats how I feel about him until he calls me and we talk like men instead behind this message board. I like to confront issues and talk with you one on one to clear the air.
Every time I confront him, he has lately tried to post BS about me or try to call me out. He hopes that since you guys are fed up of the old ABA ways that you would join him in bashing me or call me out. It doesnt work because Im genuine and I am up front and give you all that I have as an owner. Of course, there are some issues or events that are in the works that I cant discuss and I think you guys respect that.
But its your choice, you were so easily harsh on James and by the looks of this post, I dont see anything different. After this just watch how he reacts, or watch how much dirt he tries to throw on me. Im here to listen and learn and thats it, but in the process of, I had to defend and thats what I am doing now.
Remember, he told you guys that I was lying about building an arena in the city of Houston. I told you guys then that Im not using city money and even shared my plans of funding the arena again with Standards. Hell where did he get the source that told him that information or did he just make it up. We will never know because he wont post that on here, but you can count him to feed your ears with ABA trash for sure.

Unless you are a local reporter that I knew, I wouldn't answer you either. Think about it.
If I was Jaloza I would do that right away. Let's see if he is as smart as our Joe.

ok Larry if you are building an arena, let me have the bond issue number for the project and a complete phase 1 study. thats all. If you get me those I will apologize to you becuase I do know something about building arenas and from what you say....just doesnt mesh with reality.
Second thing...Absolutely brad told an owner he doesnt know whats going on and he is out of the loop.WHY would an owner make that up? Its easy to call and say you have a few questions about the team and league, no one has to answer, they can hang up if they want BUT the ones that do come to the phone do talk to me.
If it was me would I talk...no way, but then again Im not an einstein owner of an ABA team, many of whom like to hear themselves talk.
Brad and Joe...good cop bad cop game? Who knows. All I know from what Ive been told is he follows the marching orders of Joe.
so BACK to the question..If you got a cease and decist letter, what would you do? Again assuming that you know whats going on in your business. From here it looks like not too many ABA owners do. DID you at least ask your attorney? I bet no one in the ABA has a clue whats going on.

1st thing is for the actual case to reach finality ... so that a judge's decision has been handed down and any acknowledgement of orders forewith.
If the decision is in favor of Mr. Jaloza ... and He has "legal right" to take action ...
Then ... If I was an ABA owner ... I would want Mr. Steve Jaloza along with his lawyer(s) to contact me via phone to set up a telephone conference with me and my lawyer(s).
Immediately ... and well in advance of the scheduled telephone conference, I would want Mr. Jaloza's atty to send to me or my atty, via certified mail ... all pert copies of the filings, complaints, decision(s) and all judge's order(s) from the case. This would be an act of professional courtesy!
I would also request a personal letter from the desk of Mr. Jaloza stating the reasons why we are meeting via teleconference and what the nature of the discussions that shall be taking place.
At the conclusion of the teleconference, if Mr. Jaloza truly plans to send out a bonified legal and certified "cease-and-desist" letter ... than I would hope he would do the honorable thing, by allowing me; as an owner of a basketball business; to have sufficient amount of time to respond and/or comply with the order.
You have to remember ... not only would it affect myself; as an owner and individual person; but it could potentially affect many many people who are involved with organiation and those who have also embraced the organization.

a1's not random. He calls teams in the ABA all the time. All the farking time. And goes to their meetings. And hides behind potted plants. And eavesdrops on phone calls. And has all sorts of little spies everywhere.
He's cool. We wish we could be like him.

Could someone explain to me how someone can go to an owners meeting without being an owner? How does some random dude just walk into an owners meeting and nobody notices that dude ain't an owner.
I just don't get it...I understand this leaque is monkey azz backwards but still isn't everybody at an owners meeting required to register. How could dude be undercover... the whole scenario makes no sense.
Why would teams continue to talk to dude if he called. None of these morons screen their calls.... Are they anti-receptionist. If no one answers the phone does A1 leave a message and a call back number...if so how come they can't figure out who he is...This whole A1 Scooby Doo mystery is one of the most..........things i've come across on the internet.

It doesn't matter. At this point I don't give two cupcakes as to who A1sports is. And it's not like he's calling these teams and announcing to them, "Hi there, is the lady of the house at home? Okay, I'll talk to you then. I'm A1sports from Our Sports Central, would you please stop what you're doing and help me on my crusade to bring truth, justice and the A1sportsican way to minor league basketball?"
No, he's probably just going to say he's Schultz Dooley or Purlie Scarvin or Tyree Elk Deer when he calls these people. Just because he gives us an alias, doesn't mean he's not giving other teams an alias as well.
Man, there are days when the ABA is run about as well as the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.

A1, Im not the one to play your "give me proof or else" game. You just keep checking up on me and then you will soon see in the press releases what I am doing.
I really dont care about the case because again its going to play itself out and we will go on with our lives and careers.
If you think thats the only problem Larry you deserve to stay in the rec league.
You think just playing all your games wil make the rec league legit?
Its a start, then follow with:
pay your players
pay your venue
get a scorer 's table
get stats
get a working 3d sysytem
get matching uniforms
get a press kit
etc etc etc.....LArry you seem like a nice guy in the wrong business. Oh by the way..I did check...your not even close to getting an arena built so stop with the Joe-esque BS.
And remind yourself, you dont need proof from me, you flat out said that Im a liar and we arent building an arena. I dont need to give you proof, you just need to confess and state that you lied and or made the whole thing up. And we would be the judge of why would you do something like that and for what reason.
To me it sounds like the same thing you guys accused James of doing, lying. I wonder if anyone going to start a new thread about A1 the liar, caught red handed. Hell who am I kidding, I doubt it. LOL
Since you checked, why do you need my bond number. Stand behind your source or invisible friend you call your source. If thats the case then its not your fault.

You ask How I got into an ABA owners meeting? Very easy...I just walked in. The ABA owners meeting is so badly organized I cant begin to desrcibe to you how it is.Lets just say, ANYONE CAN WALK IN AND SIT DOWN. I spent time at one table then moved to another table, stood around at breaks and listened to people talk. The BEST was...standing close by the Wilmington owners and hearing them say..." This meeting is BS and Joe is giving us BS, lets get the heck out of here" They left !! If you do a check on the Wilmington owners you will see they have a big company and are smart businessmen, it follows the trend, the smart business guys leave quickly when they see this isnt what its suppose to be. Please dont think there is any organization to this, your giving them too much credit. I can remember how the RGV owner was quizzing Joe and Joe was giving BS answers to them., where is RGV now? Again, a little common sense and some business acumen and you have this whole thing figured out.
As far as giving notice to teams IF Jaloza was to send cease and decist notices you have to look at the players involved. Say your partner moved the license to another corporation and didnt tell you and was receiving money for franchises, would you feel compelled to give polite notices to teams if you got a judgement after a long legal battle? I dont think so, youd send them a bill ASAP. Its BUSINESS.

"This Legal & Personal Fight" is between Jaloza and JN/DT ...
Not with the ABA teams.
It would be far better for the league to cease operations under the name of the "American Basketball Association" (ABA) as a result of a judgement ...
than having the teams feel like they are being threatened to pay a large sum of money in order to continue their afilliation with the league.
In any scenario, all ABA teams should have the opportunity to explore and identify viable outlets for transition. And through the course of that process, be able to sustain a high level of professionalism and integrity across all levels of the organization. If you start "ordering" (forcing) organizations into a reactionary position that is very unwelcomed and unsettling, you are doing more harm than good.
This isn't about business A1 ... This is about self-serving interest.
This is all about certain individuals who formally served as owners of the ABA (who may recapture their entitlement) and those who currently serve as executives in the ABA, who should have never have been involved; to begin with; in the revival of the American Basketball Association.
This entire ABA "drama" over the years should never have happened!
It really all points to one person ... and that's the current ABA CEO.
If JN had never been in the equation ...
There may or may not have even been a NEW ABA ...
But you know something ...
There would have been another individual that would have come along and started something of their own desire and design.
So ... a message to all "the players" ...
The only thing you can do to make this right ... is to go ahead and do what you feel you need to do ... and be done with it!
It's time for all "the players" to move on in their lives.
The History of the OLD ABA has been written ... and that will not change.
There is NO ABA LEGACY of the past, living and breathing in the NEW ABA.
This NEW ABA has already made it's mark in History ... and it has been inscribed as a failure!
If you want the ABA, the ABA of today -> tomorrow, to be anything else but a failure ... than everyone currently associated with the league needs to make some very important choices and decisions.
My offer of opinion ... If the ABA does not find a new leader ... You will all be doomed to repeat history itself.
There will be no Winners!
Good Luck! [DWS]

I have a theory on this issue. It may not be right, but it's a theory with some evidence to back it up.
My theory is that a1sports is a part owner of the Tucson franchise. The Tucson franchise may be nothing more than a false front for a1sports to gain entry into league meetings, conference calls, and other insider information. Notice that it seems this Tucson franchise has no real intention of actually playing (not team name announce or website or myspace page, etc).

ABA TO PLAY THIS SEASON IN TUCSON, ARIZONA
05-Jun-2007
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association announced that it would begin play this fall in Tucson, Arizona under the leadership of Steve Moss-Kelley.
According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We had originally intended to begin in 2008, but Steve has put together an excellent organization for his spring/summer team in Phoenix and was ready to play this fall. It fits very well with the division and we are sure that the rivalry with the Phoenix Phantoms will be a good one."
Phoenix-native Steve Moss-Kelly is an alumnus of Brophy College Prep and Bowie State University. He is a veteran of many professional basketball leagues, both domestic and overseas and has played in Kosovo, Portugal, China, Germany and Chile.
"I have played all over the world with a lot of different teams and players and the connection with the fans will be incredible in the ABA," said Moss-Kelley.
Moss-Kelley is the owner of a sports agency called One Time Sports that places players primarily in Europe. He is joined by partners Brett and Demo McNeal of McNeal and McNeal Investments as well as Arthur Lewis, Jr., owner of A1 Basketball Skills Training. All have been deeply involved in basketball either by playing it or on the corporate side.
"I believe the people of Tucson will embrace the ABA for several reasons. People in this community love up-tempo basketball and that is what the ABA is all about," stated Moss-Kelley. "Also, the fans will really be able to connect with the players because we will feature some local guys, and teams in this league really try to be accessible to the fans. We are going to give the people of Tucson exciting basketball that's affordable and family friendly. We already have commitments from former U of Arizona players to play this season."

There probably wasn't anyone checking at the door of the meetings because Joe probably doesn't want to keep out anyone who might have a $10,000 hole burning in his pocket who might just want an ABA franchise.

Here's a tidbit. I think Lewis was in the front office of an IBL team as well. I remember Standard saying that a1 isn't involved in the pbl, cba or whatever but I don't think he said ibl. Also he played for the Nighthawks.
Moss Kelley makes more sense though I think.
edit: no it doesn't, lewis makes more sense. Moss-Kelley also owns a sport agency and I don't think the owner of a sports agency would obsess over a message board typing everything in caps, and over-using exclamation points constantly.
