I attended the Miners camp this weekend. I have to say it was one of the best, most professional camps I have attended. It was organized, the coach had a schedule written out, and he and the owner, Jay Fielder, offered some very inspiring advice and guidance.
We all received a Miners reversible practice jersey, as well as a pamphlet with some pertinent info about the CBA and the Miners (as well as a schedule, which says a lot about how the CBA is growing professionally and on a quality level).
I can also see why Pro Basketball news names Coach Keathley one of the top 10 young coaches in America. He's passionate, exciting, inspirational, and from what I can tell an innovative coach. I'm sure the Miners will be one of the premier clubs in the CBA.
What was most impressive was that CBS was there to cover the camp on one of the biggest tv stations in the area. Apparently (from what I heard from friends), snippets from the camp was featured on the news. I can't say that I've been to a camp where the team was such a big deal in the area.
Good job, Miners. You're off to a great start!

Hope you make the squad. Thanks for keeping us in touch with what's going on in Pikesville. Will look forward to seeing you in Minot!
to hear that things are going well in the Miners camp. Opening on the road is always tough, so I look forward to seeing them play the Xplosion and if any fans join them, from the other Commonwealth State.

I know one thing...if I'm suited up, there are going to be xome fans there. I have lots of people from the Pikeville area who have been waiting a long time to see what God was going to make out of all of my heart, soul and determination. Plus, I have family in Pittsburgh, too, so don't be surprised to see some Pittsburgh natives v=cheering for the away team!!! Sorry!!!
be the first time. Minot came with some of their supporters for some visits last season. Hopefully, the Xplosion will promote and get more fans in the stands. I'll be there!

to seeing you all. I haven't heard how ticket sales are coming, but I'm really hoping we have a good crowd. It'll be nice to have some of you add to it. (Hopefully you won't outnumber us LOL).
I've already got the date marked on my calendar. I'm really looking forward to it.

From what I've heard, ticket sales are really good. If I make the squad, there will be a bigger boost. A lot of my friends have been waiting to here how things went for me. They've watched my ups and downs, and have admired my committment to stay faithful to the game. I know this - I'll definitely give them something to watch, both on and off the court. With the adversity I've went through, I plan to do a lot of speaking engagements at youth groups, schools, etc. In fact, I have a friend who is ready to start scheduling me for some events, and have been asked for an interview by another. It'll be an awesome year for the Miners, and as far as I can tell, the entire staff is all about inspiring people to chase their dreams. I think it says a lot about the organization, too. I mean, if you really want to know what kind of coach that you have, see if he can take a guy with passion, heart, soul and determination and make him into an all-star. Anyone can win with Michael Jordan. The true evaluation of a coach is whether or not he can mold a guy with determination into a fundamentally skillful machine. THAT'S a coach, and I have a feeling that Coach Keathley is that kind of guy. You should have seen how revved up everyone was at the camp. I think he brought out the best in everyone. I've been to a few try-out camps. Usually they are filled with selfish play. The Miners camp was very welcoming - everyone was just playing ball! It was beautiful!
it's great that you have so much optimism, Zeke. But you have a lot of competition and I think you should be prepared for either way. I hope you do make it, but even on the down side, I'm sure there are things you can do to help the team, promotion wise. If you do make it, I would like to know what number you wear(I'll be rooting against you anyway on the court).
We lost our home opener to Indiana last season, so we intend to win this.
I admit that I have no idea who is on our team yet, but we ended on a winning streak(aside from losing our last two home games to Minot). I'm looking to see an Xplosion win on the home opener. When you guys are not playing us, I will root you on. I'm sure you will have a great crowd for your opener. They should be great games.

Zeke, Good Luck!
Hope you make the team.
Just curious...how many camps have you been to?
You said CBS was there. Actually, it is a CBS affiliate..Just so happens it is the only TV station in the area as well.
I was there as well...pretty disappointed in the talent overall.
Zeke, I'm not sure who you are but I hope you make it.
the Pirates and Reds do battle and thinking about their 'Ohio River battle' I got to thinking about the Xplosion and the Miners. Given how both Kentucky and Pennsylvania are Commonwealth states, I thought maybe the Commonwealth battle would be appropriate.
It was just an idea. I figured it may be a way to help get fans into it.
