The Rochester Raiders will be staying in the CIFL for the 2008 season. It has become quite clear that all leagues are showing problems.Rochester, through my sources, would rather issue challenge matches with other champions in different leagues.Rochester always felt Port huron was there standard. Now that they have defeated a 26-0 team, they will issue a challenge to a 37-0 team. STAY TUNED.The cifl pays ther players more than double what the uif pays it players. Each team puts up 50k. Each team plays with their rules one half.Split the gate receipts, away team has travel paid for by host team.WINNING TEAM GETS THE 100 K. WINNER TAKES ALL. ROCHESTER WILL BE CHALLENGING THEM .STAY TUNED.

What is so ridiculuous about having challenge matches?Since the nifl screwed their league up,every league thinks their champion is the real champion.Based on what?Does Lakeland think it could beat Sioux Falls?Im sure they believe they can.Why not their team is loaded with former sec players.Sioux Falls is slow on defense, Mulder proved that in the championship game.THE ONLY GUY THAT CAN BLAZE ON THEIR TEAM IS 5 foot 5.The best 4 teams in the country in my opinion are : LAKELAND,ROCHESTER,SIOUX FALLS ,FAYETTEVILLE... in no particular order.LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN.

Some problems with challenge matches: Expensive, limited interest, high travel costs, many players move on shortly after the season, short time frame to plan and sell, different rules for different leagues, etc.

And no way would a host team put up $50k that they'll never make back. And the road team will never put up $50k, because that's roughly 1/4th to 1/10th of a team's annual budget.

The cifl pays their players more than double what the uif pays it players. That may be true of the CIFL teams that actually pay their players. Each team puts up 50k.
Dude, I read stories about teams in these leagues trying to scrape together enough money to make road trips. You think two teams are going to invest $50,000 each to play an exhibition game?

I agree with Blanketman. There are a handfull of teams getting rings right about now, but who is the real champ? Where I would love to see a tournament of Champions, that will never happen, but why wouldn't Sioux Falls take our challenge? They think they are the best and can beat everyone. Why not? Is it because you have been beating up on weak opponents? No one gave us a chance against Port Huron and we proved that on any night we can take down anyone! Even teams with players that have numerous championships rings.

I don't ever remember hearing any of these teams say they were the best in all the land. The Storm play in the UIF, and were crowned UIF champs. Why do some think there has to be an overall champ when most of the leagues have differences in the rules anyway. I have never seen Lakeland play, but I do know their all world QB, Pogi, I believe is his name? came to the River City Rage of the UIF after winning his championship, played in the first round playoff game against Lexington, and was pulled halfway through the 3rd quarter, after throwing his 2nd, or 3rd interception of the game. There are talented players in all of the leagues, but each team is a champion of the league they play in, and that's all that should matter.. Challenges made from one league champ to another are crazy!!!!!! what's to gain from it? 100k to the winner?...lol who are you....Jim Terry?

Why go after Sioux Falls? When Lakeland(AIFA) is the premeire team. If they want a challenge. Have them hit me up. I can make this happen on the AIFA end. I'm easy to find.

I have an idea for a super-league:

The National American United Continental World Intense Indoor Football League Association!

The championship game could be the Indoor AIFA United CIFL World Intense Indoor Champions Indoor Indoor Bowl Championship Bowl Bowl Bowl Game!

It probably has something to do with the fact that the Storm would beat Lakeland by 20 or 30.

And then put the backups in for the second half.

Exit,
You said that about Rochester and Port Huron too. Do you have some hidden man crush on the Sioux Falls team? I am in the process of getting their game tape so I can judge for myself, but all I hear, besides from you, is how overrated they are. And you told me yourself that you though we could do very well against Lexington, so what makes you think Rochester couldn't hang with the Storm? Have you seen Rochester on tape? More importantly did you see the Raiders beat Port Huron? That was a hell of a game.

The Raiders needed all the luck in the world (Port Huron not practicing, Franzer concussion) to squeak out their first win against the Pirates.

Lexington needed all the luck in the world (terrible officiating, Eviston playing like a superstar, Storm defense not showing up) to only lose by a field goal to Sioux Falls.

I've seen tape on both teams. And I've seen more indoor football games in many more leagues than you have. So I know what I'm talking about.

Sioux Falls has this nasty tendency to play down to its opponent's level. If someone ticked them off like some hypothetical "challenge game" would, the Storm would absolutely annihilate Rochester.

luck had nothing to do with our win over Port Huron, a good game plan and good coaching got it done. Our defense caused those problems by Port Huron, we created our own bad luck in the past against them, and we created our own good luck in this win. And its not like we played a perfect game either. We threw an INT in our first posession and we 2 dumb penalties resulted in 10 points for them. We beat them without playing close to a perfect game.

Exactly. You needed all the luck in the world to beat the Pirates, because you didn't play a very good game, either.

The Pirates were not the same team as what they had earlier in the season, and that's the fault of Pirates management. Putting the game in Rochester didn't change anything; the Pirates won by 32 there earlier in the season.

That's what bad management does. If the Pirates were at full strength and hadn't been gypped by their ownership, that game would have been over at halftime.

That said, it was an excellent show for the CIFL, because it was a good game. Raiders fans shouldn't let the fact that the Pirates weren't the Pirates take from their title, because they did earn it. But Port Huron wasn't the same team, not by a long shot.

you are right, Port Huron was not the same team. But neither were we for that matter.

Is there a tape or DVD of the UIF championship available for purchase by fans?

If their was a minor league hall of fame Shane Franzer,ED Bynes,an Shawn Hackett would be in it ;YOU ALL KOW THAT IS TRUE.The thing is Robert Height was their MVP.The pirates all believed this was their best team the ever played on,better than both their undefeated teams in OHIO Valley and last year in Port Huron ;period. They beat teams by an average of 45 points. Now, when the Raiders beat them everyone has an excuse.Well guess what, Im a Buffalo Bills fan and i can give you 5,000 reasons why we should have won all 4 of those super bowls; the fact is we didnt, period. No excuses, the Raiders beat at least the second best team in the nation on July 28th and everyone knows it.

CIFL all quiet now.............Have their owner hit me up, because your league apparently won't.

Nor should they, since the CIFL didn't issue the challenge.

M&M have Rochester's number, I'm sure, since they showed up during the CIFL championship party with their "no money down, come on over" payment plan.

As if Dave McCarthy (Raiders founder and co-owner) hasn't heard of a "no money down" option to know what kind of crock it is; the guy is a used car salesman, for chrissakes.

You need to have Lakeland come back with the challenge, unless you want Mink and Morris to assemble an all-star team for it. I mean, Montgomery's quarterback and Danville's DBs probably would be up for it...

Im a Buffalo Bills fan .

Well pipe down , you're giving the rest of the BILLS
fans who have a sense of reason a bad name.

There aren't 5,000 reasons why the BILLS should have won.

SBXXV wide right ...one reason , and it never should have been
that close.

SBXXVI they simply got manhandled...no chance

SBXXVII After Ken Norton cheapshotted Kelly, the rout was on.

SBXXVIII . I was there .The BILLS pissed the game away.

and the Indoor Football challenge is a featherbrained idea
for the myriad of reasons that have already been posted.

crazy, crazy, crazy. bruiser.Your logic does not hold weight. The aifa will probably add lexington, along with fayetteville and wyoming,to their stable .The uif is loosing many teams this year. You can start calling it the premier indo lea, if they continue to loose the ov, evansville, lexington teams.OH YEAH, not to mention the beef is selling for 100 k on ebay or was it at a car auction, i forget. If the cifl and aifa combine strengths and create a unified bowl, it will be lights out for the ui. oh yeh ...f right?

Interesting thought blanketman. Definitely, the UIF is in trouble. While they have had consistent ownership groups, they also have consistent ownership groups that want to leave. The UIF might be losing quite a few teams. That definitely is not premier. The fact that Wyoming who fits their league geographically has decided to go elsewhere speaks for itself.

If the CIFL and AIFA combined all of the solid organizations, it might not be lights out, but close. Two leagues joining forces and business practices, while leaving out the ego of who can do it better, is exactly what indoor football needs.
