For those of you who missed it, I accidentally caught ABC's Nightline show tonite, and the first segment(about 10 minutes) was about Independent League baseball and how it works. The focus was on the Atlantic League and a couple players from the Newark Bears and Somerset Patriots, with interviews with the players, general managers and league officials. The emphasis was on players having a dream to play for an affiliated team or the majors and not giving up on that dream.
Pretty much sums up what Independent League baseball is about. Was nice to see it get a positive spin on national television tonight.
