This is my response to the outrageous calls and actions by the umpires in the past week at South Georgia's away games. Yes, these calls were against S. Ga., who else? It appears the antics are being carried on in Wally's absence, this time though, not by S.Ga. but players and coaches and managers from other teams, i.e., Music and Joes, but never to any detriment to their guys. They just keep ejecting Peanuts -- I guess they found a good fall guy in Wally and since he is the coach with the best record in the league, which obviously makes for poor sports with some of the teams and coaches and their umps -- they just keep taking it out on Peanuts, deserved or not. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Didn't your mamas ever tell you that cheaters never prosper? This is so one-sided it's not funny and no one, not one of you on these blogs, has the gumption to admit it. You said conspiracy -- little did you know at the time -- YOU WERE RIGHT and thank you for admitting it.

Hey Nuck!

I wasn't aware anyone was ejected this week. Who got the hook?
You may be right about a conspiracy. Allbeit a subliminal one. Wally has gotten himself a reputation by speaking out against the umpires in the league early and often. I think it would be only human if calls start to go the other way most of the time. I'm not saying it's right, just human nature. No doubt the Peanuts are a good enough team to overcome it.
I even think Wally got kind of a bum rap when he was suspended for eight games. He had already been ejected when the fight started. I was really surprised when he accepted responsibility for that one.

I don't know if you will consider this a compliment, but someone has stated that SCL players might be posting on this board. My money's on you. ;)

Brandon Woolard suspended for three games and Joey Hooft suspended for one game, for confronting home plate umpire Tom Stewart after the game last night.

Just wait 'til recess...

If the peanuts play like they did tonight they just need to play the Joes for the rest of the year. I was pleasently suprised by the game tonight!

Well, the Peanuts made the bed and now they have to sleep in it. The Umpires will not listen to much from any Nut right now. Like JoesFan said.

I agree also that I thought an 8 game suspension was too much for Backman, but his prior antics brought that on too.

Backman is a good manager and a good judge of talent, it is his personality that is hurting his career and his team.

The same mouthings to an umpire will probably be listened to a bit longer from a Music or Joes player, than a Nut. The umpires have heard enough from the Nuts this season and don't want to hear anymore. Billy Martin and Earl Weaver were great managers, but their reputations got them ejected before they even reached the umpire on some nights....just like Backman. I'm not saying it is right either, but like JoesFan said, it is human nature.

I understand your fustration. We all would feel the same way if it was happening to our team. This is a good place to vent to people with an understanding.

But the Nuts have the talent to overcome, they just have to understand what is happenning and keep their kool.

No, no conspiracy, just a team who uses The "Circle The Wagons" approach to success. A coach who coaches just like he played in MLB with anger and passes this on to his players. It produces a burning drive to succeed, and an unbreakable bond within the team.

Everything (and I mean Everything) that happens to the team is viewed within these parameters. Something bad? Everybody's against us, "it's a conspiracy". Something Good? We sure showed them didn't we? "Cheaters never prosper". Everything is black and white, and well, it works!

The downside? It produces players who don't handle failure very well, if at all. They must question every decision against them no matter how valid, or else it won't fit in with their vast conspiracy theory. This is what Backman is producing, a very good Indie team that can beat (almost) anyone, full of young players with an attitude that has to be reversed in The Minor Leagues, and that is why his personal dream of advancing isn't looking good.

So, "Nuck" what did Woolard and Hooft say to the ump? What did the ump say back? ;)

SCL hats would be cool !
The black "LabChow" named Pepper is holding out for more treats & will not allow her image to be used.
The Husky (Mika) is content with the amount of treats that she is receiving and her picture can be found in my bio.
Blue is a Rottweiler/Husky mix (Mika's pup) who turns 1 on Aug 4. Blue seems to be a bit camera shy but I am sure to put a picture of her on this site sooner or later.
I need to make a webpage of my dogs!
