Looked at ABA06ers thread about the Rochester Razorsharks backing out on the camp and the kids and thought it was total BS just like you guys and the Director of Security at Finger Lakes Gaming and Race Track had told me his son was going so I placed a call to him just now.

Me -"Hows that sharks camp going"

My Boss - "Not good, they did away with the camp because of a lack of players signed up"

Me - " website sais they were sold out "

Boss - " All lies, its sad my kid was really looking forward to it , he loves that team"

My boss is the former lead police investigator for a Suburb of Rochester and knows alot of people as I am sure alot of parents do , I think ABA06er just gained a lot of credibility.

I talk with James frequently being that he is very close to me in Buffalo and we talk about alot of things, I can assure you he is correct, I was talking with him when he was on that phone with his boss

I wouldnt say 06er deserves alot of credibility like James said, but hes not lying about this camp being cancelled

Me and James were very curious about this topic and we did our own investigation, with surprising results!

However, as for 06er also stating that "parents werent refunded" I dont know about that, that doesnt seem like Rochester to me, but "kids upset" yes, but hey plenty of ABA teams upset people when a team folds or there is no game that night too!

But surprising about the camp being cancelled, as sucessful as they've been for the last 2 years, I wouldnt think getting enough kids for a camp wouldnt be a problem, I would actually think the opposite, I would think that there would be too many interested campers to attend lol!!

I am sure they refunded the money but advertising the camp was sold out when it wasent is a law suit waiting to happen. The Rochester Razorsharks just ruined the summer for a lot of innocent kids based on thier own lies.

I would recomend the PBL suspend them but they own the PBL.

so lets suspend the ABA for every team that holds a tryout at 150 a pop and then shuts down after game one or they never even tip off . That money never gets refunded back. and when i get my info from a team or venue i get it from the cerebrum not the jugular if you know what i mean.

yeah lets make excuses for Rochester advertising a sold out camp , getting kids ready and excited to go play with the pros. Then calling them and telling them they never even had enough campers.

Right , lets make excuses. This is about right and wrong.

www.rasorsharks.com still advertises a sold out camp

what a joke, and who gets hurt ? the children

TheStandard

and you 06er and your silly league advertises 150 dollar tryouts for teams that wont make it and players never get paid nor refunded that amount.

The sharks were man enough to refund and hey they cancelled the session WITH DUE NOTICE. SOMETHING that the ABA office nor ABA teams can do. And that is GIVE DUE NOTICE. Quit your sour grapes about RGV leaving and picking a bone on anything. Find to be legit. I forgot legitimacy is never in the ABA's vernacular.

You know, I would agree with you, but most of the time, when you sign the release, waiver, or whatever it is you have to sign to try out, it usually states that the try-out fee is non refundable.

TheStandard

Sweeper there has been occasions that it was stated that if you make the team the fee will be given back to you and thats what im talking about.

Also the sharks did not lie like you do ABA06er. AKA Chichester. Hey look at yourself in the mirror. and quit picking bones on legit teams, teams that do things right. Oh Tom by the way, you mad that theres no more harlem to charge them 450??

06er---you have officially lost your mind. There is no boycott, no irate fans, just one idiot (find mirror, look intently, smile that idiot smile that you use when you are making one more bogus call on a Vermont opponent---better yet use the one you tried on your supervisor or the one for the judge)
The camp last week was a success and the other one was cancelled early enough to have some campers attend.
Take a different shot
And you bulldogs better be careful....we all here know how good that kool-aid tastes in the beginning. Don't get used to it.....it tastes really bitter in the end

Please tell me why this needed yet another thread. We have a thread going about this very subject. The second session of the camp was cancelled with some of those who had signed up for it being assigned to the first session and the rest refunded. Wahoo. No story.

I can't help but notice that both you and ABA06er used a rare misspelling in posts today. Instead of "says," you both spelled it "sais." Coincidence?

Well, and we only need to point to the title of this thread. Nice try James/Chichester/06'er. Now reveal yourself before I do. How is this going to look in an article? "ABA officials attempt to sabotage PBL on message board".

Paul leans back and puts on baseball hat titled SARCASM

Man if I was a parent in Rochester I'd be IRATE too. Can you imagine the pain a parent would feel if you signed your child up for a basketball camp and 2 weeks before it was CANCELLED because of lack of interest and you got a refund???????????????
hat comes off

I'd be more p_____ off if I dropped my child off and saw only two other kids in the "camp". Or if I didn't get a refund.

If this was a true ABA camp they would simply say the players couldn't show up so the camp is cancelled by taping a note to the gym door and locking it tight. Oh ya, no refunds too.

Sure it isn't perfect but what you ABA-geeks all forget is that everyone and every company has problems, hiccups and mistakes. Its how you handle it not that it happened.

Latest "Ask the CEO" by emailing CONniejoenewman@aol.com.
Q- Joe, is it right to set up a basketball camp and then cancel it, throwing childrens dreams into the garbage
A- Absolutely NO. My friends in Rochester Joe and Tom both sais this happend and many irate parents phoned the ABA.........blah blah blah.

From http://www.corningbulldogs.com/id3.html (emphasis mine):
James R. Schutz, co-owner and General Manager, is a sports savant having been involved in sports his whole life. A life time resident of Geneva NY, a small town located between Syracuse and Rochester, James spent two seasons at Geneva High School playing for the Panthers varsity football team as the starting tight end, using his 6-4 muscular frame. He also started as center on the basketball team. His sports career did not end at high school. He went on to become the starting center for the Corning Community College Red Barons basketball team. During the 2002-2003 season, James went on to post solid numbers averaging 10 points and 6.7 rebounds.
