Is this the same Juan Melo that played for the SF Giants in 2000? If so he has been in AA & AAA since! Some Indy League also
Maybe a nice snag for STG if its the same Juan Melo.

Hi S.Sox,

You're fast -- nothing gets by you! It is the same Juan Melo that had limited big league time with the San Francisco Giants in 2000. In his 14th season of professional baseball, he was just recently released from the Northern League as Peaanuut pointed out.

Melo has over 1500 minor league hits and has hit over .300 with nine different minor league teams in his career and can play 2B, SS, 3B. He's a great pickup for St. George and will be the second player with big league time in their locker room (not counting Cory Snyder) joining Mark Woodyard.

St. George is working hard to improve their team and I've been impressed with their additions over the last few weeks -- Cody Nowlin (former 2nd round pick), Santiago Guerrero, and now Juan Melo. A few more experienced arms and I think they will surprise a lot of teams in the second half.

Best Regards,
Kevin Outcalt

Great news for the Roadrunners and GBL to bring in an experienced player like Melo.

Look foward to checking him out when they come to Reno..
Go Sox.!

Melo should fill in a spot at third base. Rest easy, Ryan Stevenson should be ok!
