The Miners seem to be moving full speed ahead. There website is starting to take form - http://www.ekminers.com

They are having a press conference tonight at 7:30pm at the East Kentucky Expo Center. I'd love to be there - it's a little far for me though (I'm in Orlando). If anyone goes, please be sure to provide us all with a brief synopsis of everything talked about. I believe it was mentioned that at least one player signing would take place.

I like the website - it's nice a clean, especially for a first year team. It looks like they have a solid plan to have a successful year: Store, Dance Teams, Camps, and a community page. I'd like to know what the ticket prices will be.

I grabbed some more news from the Miners on their website. They've already had some front office people AND Jay Fielder visit a Middle school in Prestonsburg, KY (approximately 30 minutes from Pikeville). Good move on their part to expand the target market so early.

I think it speaks well that Jay Fielder showed up as well. I'm sure it was a treat for the kids to see an NFL quarterback (football is pretty big in East KY as well). The Hollywood Fame of the ABA boasted a star-studded owbership team (Nick Lachey, Stacey Kiebler, etc.), but I never heard of any of them going to a middle school to speak with kids (I may be wrong, but certainly didn't hear of it). Good move by the Miners!!!!!

I got some info on the East KY Expo Center today. The facility will seat 7,000 for Miners games. I also got some pricing on season tickets, which went on sale yesterday after the press conference. Packages start at under $100 for a 48 game season (24 of course at home). That's like $4.17/game. Brand new facility, professional basketball...now that's "affordable, fan-friendly basketball at it's best! Higher end tickets apparently max out at $30/ game. Undoubtedly court-side VIP tickets.

At for the press conference yesterday, the Owners (Jay Fielder and Demitrius Ford), Head Coach (Kevin Keathley) and President asnd General Manager (Rob Blackwell - formally with the Indiana Alley Cats) was formally announced. From what I gather, the Miners had hoped to name their first player signing, but hadn't been able to seal the committment yet. No word was given concerning the speculation of who that player is.

It's good to see that this franchise is being run as a serious business not like a hobby. It is refreshing to see.

Alright, but other ABA teams do just that. And have done so recently.

Some do but most do not.

Some do but most do not.

Do most CBA teams visit middle schools?
