With the NIFL teams gone and courts for Shriver and Gary, this league is dead. How much longer will this board stay up (given that the APFL doesn't have a board)??

While it is pleasing to think that the NIFL is dead... I've said so a couple times on this board... I would be willing to bet $$ that CG and CS are not done yet. There is nothing to stop them from announcing 30 new teams. Then they find a handful of suckers to coach or play for these teams, but will go through the same garbage they did this year. No venues, no insurance, no games, no pay.

They'll be back...

Afterall, they need someone to play against their only team left in San Diego...

But I don't think it's necessary to have the NIFL on OSC anymore.

Who says San Diego is staying in the NIFL?

Who says San Diego is staying in the NIFL?

Who says they're not?

Until there is an announcement stating otherwise, we can only assume they are still part of the NIFL.

The NIFL board will stay as long as there are people who want to talk about it. This is by far the most interesting section. Look at the number of posts and views. This is not going away soon. There is still too much to say.

Yeah, this section is OSC's internet "car crash".

Everybody slows down to take a look . . .

How about you email the front office and find out what they might say. I did!

I will say to Mr. Gary's credit that he has been much more candid and available to answer questions.

Is this a joke? I didn't see any interview with CG.

He has been quoted in a couple of stories I've done.

Any predictions, Paul? Or, are you laying low to see what will happen. I suspect you have some idea of the future but are unwilling to speculate yet.

You are correct that I have an educated guess as to what might happen, but that's really all it is. The NIFL has a herculean task ahead of itself if it is going to rebuild.

I suppose on further thought that it would be appropriate that the NIFL stay this board here until they don't kick off next year.

My uneducated guess is they try to recruit new investors. If they learned from last year's mistakes, they don't try to set up franchises before owners are found. If they didn't, they will try to field ownerless team with similar hilarity.

As for San Diego and the NIFL, there was a release on OSC dated 8/29/07 stating that the San Diego Shockwave will not be returning to the NIFL. After a successful inaugural season, the San Diego Shockwave franchise will sit out the 2008 season and wait for a West Coast division of a national indoor league to develop. The Shockwave ownership may invest in an established team that is part of the league the Shockwave is considering being a part of when they return in 2009.

I could be wrong, but I thought they were interested in buying in to a UIF franchise.

I doubt the UIF is interested in them.

The Shockwave owners conducted the business of the franchise very well. Despite being saddled with a terrible lease, my information indicates they paid all their bills and would have been back next year if not for the aforementioned lease and lack of an affordable league presence anywhere near them. My guess is that a lot of leagues would welcome the Shockwave ownership with open arms.
