A few questions for those of you 'in the know', including those of you with independent League experience.
I'm loving our new league, and enjoying it day by day, but what happens after the season is over?
Are all players and coaches released from contract and we start 'from scatch' again next year? Or are they 'on retainer'? How many of our favorite players and coaches can we expect to see next year on the same teams?
These might be simple questions, but I really have no idea how it works in the indie leagues.

My question is, how is the league doing?

I think from it's doing real well for an inaugural season. From a fans perspective I think it's great; entertaining, solid baseball, with a few minor problems if you're looking for them. (Great, inexpensive night out for the family)
Of course, the league isn't going to publicize it's financial targets or if they're hitting them, and rightly so. Overall, the league is averaging 1320 an openiing, (or over 1400 if you remove the Bradenton franchise, which is moving).
Just a couple of clues, one is to look at the stadiums the league selected; the average MAX capacity of the stadiums is around 3500, with The Redfish tops at 5300. I would hope that they were not banking on sellouts for every game. Another clue is given by Music GM Rick Sisler, in interviews he has said that Luther Williams Field gets out of it's "comfort level" at around 2500 (they start to struggle with concessions etc) which is a little more than half of it's capacity.
So to answer your question, no one (except The League) truly knows how close they are to target, but I'm making an educated guess that they're satisfied if not pleased.

It is my understanding that the SCL set their goals at a somewhat low level for the first few years knowing that many challenges laid before them.

Have any of you guys read the boards of the other Indy leagues? Wow. After reading those, I feel we have a league better than the Carolina or Sally league!!! They have some really dedicated and passionate fans.....

I agree Beetm. It is a great core group of posters here, but how do we generate more interest? It would be nice if the team's and the league's websites had a place for fan websites, or at least a link to the message board. What else can we do to generate interest in the league and this board?
