NHL Idol?

Yes the NHL is going the route of reality tv to find the next Wayne Gretzky. (I guess waiting for Sidney Crosby is too long for them these days...) It's a CBC show called Making the Cut with Scotty Bowman and Mike Keenan. I feel sorry for those guys having to do this gig...

Don't feel too sorry for them. They were on TV being interviewed days before they actually hit the ice. They were excited for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be on TV but were like kids playing hockey for the first time. To add to everything, they were also pretty excited to meet Bowman and Keenan. Not everyone who applied got to try out so they felt like they had won the lottery just to be able to try out. At least some of them, anyway.

Maybe on day one, but from there you will see nothing but a bunch of spoiled drama queens and a bunch of actors who never played the game in their lives.

Bowman and Keenan will have absolutly zero input to who makes it and who gets "cut". What's worse is that nobody who is a ratings grabber will ever get cut because they create "drama" and "conflict". (See Trump's fiasco or a series for a reference for what's in store for Bowman and Keenan.)

Don't forget the bullcrap that is bringing someone back who was dropped earlier as well. This is going to be the single biggest trainwreck in CBC history since Friday Night with Ralph Benmurguie fiasco 10 years ago.
