I saw on the SCL page that the Music "Voided the trade of RHP Bryce Florie to the Newark Bears".
Does this mean that Bryce Florie wil remain in Macon?
Any insight BEETM? Heard any good scuttlebutt?

The Macon Telegraph is now reporting that it was Florie himself that turned down The contract.

This is just me thinking out loud, but it could be that Florie is concentrating on his pitching coach position as well as playing. He might not have much longer to pitch, but he could have many more years coaching. He may be thinking long term and about his future in the game. His friendship with Phil Plantier might have swayed him as well.... Either way, I'm glad he stayed!

Florie himself voided the deal as he is looking to get picked up by an affiliated club. He also is talking with some pride at helping The Tunes younger players navigate through the season.
Personally, reading between the lines, I think that he likes what he's doing, and only an affiliated club could pry him away right now....
(That last part was just my opinion.:p )

On a side note, it's good to just see Florie back playing ball. I remember seeing that horrific line drive on ESPN (2000). Hit him right in the eye breaking his eye socket. Anyone else remember that?

Just now getting a chance to read my Charleston Riverdogs Program from vacation. It appears that Bryce Florie has been nominated for inclusion in Charleston's baseaball hall of fame. It is located at the Joseph P. Riley ballpark (a.k.a. "The JOE"), and is jointly operated by The Post and Courier and the Riverdogs.
"Created five years ago to recognize professional athletes who have reached stardom while playing in Charleston, the committee redesigned the format to include amateur players and teams."
"An advisory committee consisting of knowledgeable, local volunteers was created to determine the names of potential nominees... Voting will be conducted by the newspaper's readership. The ballots will appear [in the newpaper] July 11, 15, 20, 22, with a deadline for entries to be July 27."
The four individuals, out of the twelve nominees to recieve the most votes will be inducted on August 17.
I wonder if that newspaper is online?
