In an article in the Evansville Courier Press, BlueCats coach John Hart is quoted as saying:
"We had it first-and-goal at the 2 and they ran an illegal offense," said Hart. "It really hurts when the officials don't know the rules, but it happened. We still had our chances to win and just didn't."

Does anyone know what he's referring to? Was it a particular play that he's saying was illegal, or is he saying their entire offense was illegal? Just curious. I was at the game and don't remember seeing anything.

I am sure the coach meant to say an illegal defense. There is no such thing as an illegal offense. If there were too many men in motion, it would be illegal motion, etc.
There are calls for "illegal defense" and I am sure that is what he was talking about since Evansville had the ball at the 2 yard line, first and goal and did not punch it in.
I was not at the game, so it would be hard to know what the Evansville coach thought was illegal. Maybe he thought there were too many men in the box or that they blitzed someone illegally.

The coach can call it whatever he likes.
If in fact , the offense does something which
violates the rules of the game while attempting
an offensive play , it is illegal.
Therefore , it is an ilegal offense.
That may not be what a zebra says when
he makes an infraction call , but it is what it is.
I don't see a problem with the coaches vocabulary.
I'm not saying , I'm just saying.:)
Sounds as if he's asking for some cheese...

Fact is the Rage STOPPED them .... They had it on the 2 and could not penetrate our defense....

What they meant was an Illegal defense when a member of the secondary got close to the box and he wasnt involved on making the stop.

The box in there's only going to be 2 yards in depth anyways, so it's going to be hard to get an illegal defense anyways.

So it looks like the bottom line is someone was confused between offense and defense (either the coach or the beat writer during the interview). I remember the guy on the field...don't know if it was the head coach or a coordinator...was chewing on one of the zebra's ear after they missed the fieldgoal. Looks like sour grapes to me.

yea that is pretty much it. did everyone notice that the Rage kicker was signing autograpghs while the Bluecats were trying to freeze him at the end of the game?

That was great... He said he did not want to have to think about it and if he stayed with the team they would of been "you can do it" and stuff so he said he walked over to the fans to keep his mind clear.... Thank God it worked...
Rumor has it the Rage is playing the new QB this weekend and letting Fisher rest. The guy is like 6'3 275lbs, yes, the QB is that big... I can not wait to hear the game..
