I'm signing of this message board community after my second unfair and unacceptable ban.
Don't give me the "Oh go and cry in your towell crap" - I was banned. Twice. What good is it to post?
My repsponses which included non-profane name calling were usually an attempt to be funny. Whether or not it was funny, so be it, my bad.
However, they were always "reactive" to someone else's post, and someone else's name calling of Joe Newman or unnammed ABA people. Yet those guys were not banned.
That is not to cry - it is point out the obvious facts - the Board was moderated by advocates, subjective people who were anti-ABA.
The very premise of a message board is to take on all points of view. The 2-3 pro-ABA voices were countered with a dozen anti-ABA voices. What good is your argument if you and your 5 friends are the only people reading the board, or commenting?
Most of what I have read has been factually inacurrate, wrong, and personal name calling. But the only banning was for me when I tried to correct it.
I wish the Board and the posters the best, never meant to be personal. Your basic premise that the league has poor managment is correct; your inability to siphon off the good owners, the good news, the people and owners who care, the context of failings in other leagues - I could go on, but what is the point. Your failure to provide balance and context, and the moderators as so-called journalists are MOST guilty of this, is the reason that any sane person who spends too much time here would worry about the sanity of all of you.
I had come hoping to enjoy some basketball - for better or for worse - what is here is a starnge and weird collection of individuals who by every objective standard need to get a life.
The moderator knows my IP, so when I say I'm signing off - he can confirm it. You have my permission to expose me if I try to log in as somebody else on the ABA thread.
Good luck. I am glad to be gone.

The Good News in the ABA has always been outweighed by the bad news. And anything thats good has left to other pastures.

You don't get it, and you never did. Message boards are places where people can express their opinions. No one can promise those opinions will balance themselves out. Bottom line was you did not like the opinions being expressed, and you showed an inability to respond in a mature manner, leading to your forced vacations. You were unable to avoid cloaking your opinions in name-calling or accusations against the moderators. I'll say this, you stayed true to form until the end. Good riddance.

It was far from unfair. You baited others, and violated the terms and conditions of the board.
Don't give me the "Oh go and cry in your towell crap" - I was banned. Twice. What good is it to post?
Your attempts at humor were not funny, and did not come across that way, hence why you were banned.
My repsponses which included non-profane name calling were usually an attempt to be funny. Whether or not it was funny, so be it, my bad.
However, they were always "reactive" to someone else's post, and someone else's name calling of Joe Newman or unnammed ABA people. Yet those guys were not banned.
Does that justify you retaliating with calling others names? I will admit that I have my problems with the ABA, but both Paul and myself have defended the ABA and its teams when warranted. The problem is that there are too many negatives in the league as a whole.
That is not to cry - it is point out the obvious facts - the Board was moderated by advocates, subjective people who were anti-ABA.
Yes, you are crying. You also have not read many of the posts. If you had, you would see that Paul and myself do not just have negative things to say about the league. I am a journalist and I call them like I see them from my point of view. If you don't like it, then you are doing the correct thing in leaving the board.
The very premise of a message board is to take on all points of view. The 2-3 pro-ABA voices were countered with a dozen anti-ABA voices. What good is your argument if you and your 5 friends are the only people reading the board, or commenting?
Have you not seen what has gone on in the ABA? Teams folding, games not played, players not paid, criminals owning teams, and in the last case, an owner who covered up the fact he had a convicted sex offender on his roster, then told someone in his organization to cover things up. Tell me something good out of that......Come on, you can do it.
Most of what I have read has been factually inacurrate, wrong, and personal name calling. But the only banning was for me when I tried to correct it.
No, your "facts" were found to be inaccurate. The points of journalists such as Peter Murray of the LA Times, Alex Wailling in Halifax and others trump you.
Give me good news about the league. Come on, do it. Vermont is a model franchise as are Strong Island, and others. Look at last season. Only 63 percent of the league's games were played. Eight teams folded during the playoffs, players were not paid. One team started the season, folded, came back under a different name, folded, came back again and of course folded. Expansion has not been capped as stated it would be by CEO Newman. Due diligence is not conducted, and it takes a check clearing to get a franchise. Give me good there....I dare you.
I had come hoping to enjoy some basketball - for better or for worse - what is here is a starnge and weird collection of individuals who by every objective standard need to get a life.
This coming from someone who is launching attacks on fellow posters and on the moderators of the board. You have zero credibility.
The moderator knows my IP, so when I say I'm signing off - he can confirm it. You have my permission to expose me if I try to log in as somebody else on the ABA thread.
Good luck. I am glad to be gone.
Good riddance.
And no, I still can't multi-quote messages. Now that you can pick on me for.

Okay, bye.
Sorry that there is more people against the ABA and its doings than pro-ABA, sorry that we openly express our opinions on a message board, things need to be changed in the ABA, thats the only way us critics will calm down a bit, thats the only way to get rid of so much bad news
The ABA needs to change, and to start off it needs a new CEO to inforce rules, stop letting so many rinky dink owners in, stop with the lies and lawsuits etc.......
I think there is really good talent in this league, but so many terribly ran teams and a terribly ran league, it needs change NOW

Cindy "media harlot" Sheehan said just two months ago she was out of the "peace movement" and is now threatening to run against Nancy Pelosi if Pelosi doesn't start impeachment of President Bush.
So her word means nothing. What a shock.
It's too bad that legitimate issues over the Iraq war are ignored because of this publicity stunt.
I expect the same here inside two months. Trolls don't stay away forever.

in-between aba_insider's last post of 06/24/07 and his post today 07/09/07, that has driven him to sign off from the OSC Message Board?
Did he come to decide that for himself ... or did another Pro-ABA "Insider" suggest that he might find another outlet to express himself ...

In the interests of staying on topic, let's remember that posters here have a wide variety of opinions on many issues, including politics. Let's avoid examples that may inflame passions on either side.

You break the board rules, you take a forced vacation, that's the rule. It doesn't matter what viewpoint you have. Claiming persecution is a weak defense.

And HeavesRock, get out from your little ABA, Joe Newman loving personality and accept the fact that the league is nothing more than a YWCA rec league. Also, <Removed by admin> contribute more than your whining of how we treat the travesty of the ABA. Your like the snotty nose wiping kid in kindergarten who told on the kids who teased him.

As Paul said, break the rules, and then you get banned. We do not ban people because of their viewpoints; we ban them because they incite other members, post false information, go off topic, use profane language, or in the case of some members, comparing the moderators to a communist regime. Sorry, that stuff just doesn't fly.

OK, how's this: I've seen people trolling promise to leave boards and come back a few weeks, sometimes days, sometimes hours later. I don't believe this guy, not one bit.

You think I love Joe Newman? Are you kidding? I hate him as much as anyone on here. I have said supportive things about certain ABA teams and owners but never Joe Newman.
My point was I have been banned three times of which only one was for a good reason.
