View Full Version : Anderson not "Pitcher Friendly"?

I heard on the radio that Anderson pitcher Andy Carter has "retired".
And Will Krout has been released.
This, on top of Kevin Culpepper and Branden Sherrif's release last week, is a bit confusing to me.
We're keeping Tyler Addison. Compare his record to the pitchers that are gone now:

PITCHER W-L ERA G SV IP H R ER HR HB BB SO OPPAVG
Addison, Tyler 1- 4 6.49 8 0 34.2 37 28 25 4 4 17 21 .272
Carter, Andy 1- 3 5.24 15 0 34.1 41 25 20 1 5 13 24 .306
Culpepper, K. 0- 2 5.65 9 0 36.2 38 26 23 4 4 8 35 .268
Krout, Will 0- 3 3.97 20 2 22.2 24 11 10 4 4 7 26 .270
Sherriff, B. 1- 1 6.87 13 0 18.1 25 15 14 1 1 13 22 .325

Not that any of these numbers are great. And I like Tyler Addison. I just don't think I'd get rid of a pitcher with a 3.97 ERA when the team ACE has about a 3.27
Any other SCL teams gone through 12 or more pitchers this year?

Macon's gone through a half-dozen, the last one being one of our aces Vern Sterry (2-2 3.05 ERA).

I get the impression that some players have imposed a very short time-frame on themselves, they're giving it one last shot, and if it's not happening they have to join the rest of us in "The Real World'.

EDIT: As far as Anderson not being "Pitcher freindly" our radio-guy said it had one of the deepest center fields in The SCL.

Hey Beetm,
Yeah it's 418 to dead center field. I was lucky enough to see Billy Hogan hit a two-run homer right over the 418 marker a couple of weeks ago
I think that is part of the reason why Anderson doesn't have a lot of HRs in the stats, but they have an awful lot of doubles & triples (well, Heath Keel does anyway). That ball tends to get lost in that cavernous outfield.
I guess Aiken's relatively small park explains why they were leading in all of the HR numbers earlier in the season.
I've heard Desi Wilson, in his pregame show make a couple of comments that led me to believe that even though the park is pitcher friendly, the clubhouse might not be...
