There is somebody misrepresenting your organization in a forum where Nike and the NBA are involved and you are ok with it?
Please read: http://www.summerproleague.com/news_detail.php?news_id=6&PHPSESSID=1094f1475c3cde3f268ef604e8eb334d
It's much more than just playing basketball. And the Houston Taker's name will be associated with the entire event. I'd think you would want your organization to be represented accurately?
Yes, please keep us posted ...

Wow, that is just bad. That is one thing I would be concerned with. If you have someone representing themselves as your owner, I would consider that to be more than just a small issue.

All I can do is look into it, but everyone knows who I am, titles dont make people. Somee people feel that they validate them but its no need for me to get worried because when I walk down the street Im just an average guy who is chillin in the cut. So I will handle it but Im not worried, you along with everyone elde know who I am and thats whutsup.

A 10 year old basketball player from Southern Califorina who walks into free Kids Clinic at the Long Beach State Pyramid will not know you (Or I) from Adam ...
But he will for sure remember walking up to a pro basketball player who has a Houston Takers shirt on and asking for an autograph, getting it, and walking away excited!
Or should I say ...
But he will for sure remember walking up to a pro basketball owner/coach, who has a Houston Takers shirt on and asking for an autograph, not getting it, because the owner/coach totally ignored that person at that very moment.
Either way ... I'd do more than just look into it ...

That's the position the ABA CEO always seems to take and look what type of shape the league is in today.
Good Luck ... You are going to need it!

How many season tickets have you sold thus far? Also, what are your mini plan packages like? What is the price for your court side tables and do feel that you will be selling radio advertising or will the station handle that? P.s. what is the price for floor advertising as well as uniform advertising should I decide to advertise with the Houston team?

How can you not be worried about that? I would be livid if I was the owner of a team and all of a sudden someone else was listing their name as the boss.
Hey, it is your ball club, worry about the things you feel you need to.
cglue
07-05-2007, 05:04 PM
You have to ask Terry Williams for most of that information but I do know season tickets are 165 for 18 games and courtside is 25 or something like per game. But Terry Williams handles all that information for me, he is VP of Basketball Opps. Season tickets did go on sell Sunday but I havent looked at the numbers until Saturaday. Why, are you interested in doing something with us?

Larry - don't take this the wrong way, its not a criticism but if it was my business I'd be p_____ off if someone was going around saying they are the owner. Now having some background with summer leagues and the such, they generally have a blank space on the form/e-submission that says "contact person" which is almost always the owner unless you play in the LA,Vegas or Boston Summer League. Under that is an owner line, if you just fill in the contact person they will list you in both.
Now the LA Vegas and Boston summer leagues will have an actual process where you apply as opposed to a sign up and are immediately accepted.
Kind of like when I walked into the military recruiters office a number of years ago and said "I;d like to enlist" he said back to me "no you;d like to apply"
The other thing. [QUOTE=cglue aka Larry the Taker owner;54839]You have to ask Terry Williams for most of that information but I do know season tickets are 165 for 18 games and courtside is 25 or something like per game. ,
If I was the owner I'd be very very very sure of the prices and numbers unless Terry Williams is the business manager specifically hired to run the business while you are a silent owner.
Anyways best of luck to the Takers. Thanks for coming on here and answering questions

Larry, any update on your arena project?
cglue
07-05-2007, 09:48 PM
I addressed the issue we discussed earlier and Mark explain to me the guy got the information wrong that put the in. My attorney is looking further into this as we speak and should have it resolved tomorrow.
The arena is ok but just moving real slow. We are getting bonds to take care of the financing and along with other projects that we have in store which I will inform you guys when becomes available. We want to close at least by the end of the month so we can break ground in September, at least thats the plan.
By the way, thats what Terry does and thats why he is on my team to handle questions like that. If you look up the information you will see that I am THE OWNER and I dont need silent investors for this basketball team. Now if you want to invest in areas of real estate, then Im all ears and of course you would be an investor not silent or private but an investor. If you put money up for any project, your name ought to be announced, but of course you choose not be.
I will say this going back to the arena that the naming rights game is very interesting and its exciting to be apart of it.

pretty sketchy!
So I take it ...
The Houston Takers are not "officially" apart of the Summer League ... Mark Ellzy is not "officially" a staff member of the Houston Takers organization ... and the players listed on the Houston Takers Summer League Roster are not "officially" representing the Houston Takers team?

As far as the arena goes, do you think the ABA is stable enough for you to invest money in a new arena for the team? Also, how will the arena be paid for? Will it be paid for through private funding, public, or a combination of the two?

I just think that an owner should know the price of his tickets and how much revenue is coming in on a daily basis. What are your quotes for insurance? Liability and workmans comp for your players? Just curious. So, if a guy blows out a knee this season I want to make sure that it is taken care of. NBDL and CBA have it- just checking with you

No actually its a funding program that my attorney friend told me about where there won't be a mortgage. Its a real interesting project but I cant discuss it or go into detail on this board but you should have my number and I will discuss it in private. Thats right, as soon as the final brick is laid it will be clear and free. But trust me, the ABA isnt the only sport or league that I am interested in investing in. There are alot of things we will be attracting when we get this off the ground and Im excited about it. Thanks again for the concern Fells.

what i cannot ask a question? A legit question? I am not worrying about it, just wondering. You seem to have an open book policy, so I thought that I would ask a couple of questions. What is your quote for the insurance? I am just checking, no I am not trying out, but just looking for an answer. Also, what softwarre are you using for your game stats. Thanks

Those kind of questions shouldnt be any concern of yours dealing with insurance or anything of that matter. The ABA is has given us a program to cover and maintain our stats, I think Jockstat or something like that, I would have to ask the person we have over that. I think it is something that all teams must have this upcoming season.
I dont mind sharing information but some things Im just not allowed to discuss and if you now anything about business you understand why. But I will tell you that my guys are insured.

Most insurance companies won't insure start-up's, therefore he is most likely using his states insurance fund agency to insure the team for the first two years(which causes start-up's to pay out of this world fees)
He stated in a prior post that he was attempting to get a government Bond to build an arena. Which means he 1st finds funding via a city, county or state government then he would have to find sponsors, a pension fund, a non-profit, a personel trust, parking fees or taxes to generate enough income to pay the city, county or state the capital invested back with interest.

Wow Mr.KnowItAll, just respect my business and I will respect your post. If I dont want to give that information out then I won't, so dont try to figure out how. You dont know me and you dont know how I conduct business here in Houston, so again respect my space and my business. Oh by the way you are wrong on both takes.
It would be foolish of me to ask the city to step in since they already have another professional basketball team here in Houston. I dont want anyone running or owning my facility but me and thats the way Im drawing it up. I have alot of friends who asked the city to come in and help facilitate financing and now that thats done, the city has some say on some functions that they do and thats not going to be the case here. As I said before, I dont need private funding for my projects or an investor to come in and help me out. I am capable of doing it myself with my attorney and banker in place. Please respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off I don't respect your business and I don't give a damn if you respect my post. You said you were looking to get a bond and all I did was explain what a bond was. Dude asked about insurance fees and I told him was were he could find the information on insurance fees.
You are right, I don't know and I don't care to one wipe, If Fells wants to know more about Bonds and I choose to tell him that does not have sh.t to do with you. The only reason people know you or your business is because you put it out there. If you don't want me to post on what you have to say. Fine! Don't say sh.t.
