So if you all haven't heard already - I'm no longer GM for the Aces. Apparently, my owner just needed my work (sponsorship package, logo,etc....you all can read up if you don't know) before kicking me to the curb. I'll shoot straight with you all. I left the Aces after last season to pursue an ownership deal with Dee Brown. He was scared to invest in the ABA. He had some talks with key people, and said he was urged not to get involved, and that I shouldn't either.

Well, my owner came crying back, promising me anything I wanted if I returned. He said he would give me the starting PG spot, name me GM, so long as by season start I had an intern who could handle any issues while I played out the season (which I had), and get me on salary after we reached a certain level of sponsorship goals (he was very vague). After he got the sponsorship powerpoint presentation I created, he got a bit shady. He even created a new website for the team (which I think sucks). I even opened the door for him to the Kissimmee Civic Center. I look at his staff page yesterday and notice I am not listed...so I call him. Flabbergasted and wavering, he says, uhh...I'm at the movies let me call you back. Then, out of the blue, I receive an email telling me I'm no longer a part of the Aces.

So I have some connections to the PBL. To make good on my situation (which they have heard this story time and time again), I was offered a paid flight to attend one of the 3 camps coming up OR (it's my choice) a ticket to a certain team to tryout for them (I'll not disclose the team right here). In my opinion...that's class. Take responsibility for someone else's actions when you have no reason too. I must admit - the offer has made this whole ordeal a little easier to deal with. It's helped me maintain my hope in my own basketball aspirations - as a player and GM.

Tell me - does the ABA have any stories like that?

And hey good luck Mark with maybe a possible job with a PBL team, you deserve to be treated with high class and professionalism

Hopefully soon, all of us here on OSC can watch you start up your own team one of these days!!

what a joke- offering a gm and the starting point guard spot to the same guy. I have heard it all now. "Come on in an sell and then go to practice." What happens if you stink or they find someone better are you going to cut yourself? What a league.

without Mark King!

So if you all haven't heard already - I'm no longer GM for the Aces ...

I look at his (Todd Triplett) staff page yesterday and notice I am not listed ... so I call him. Flabbergasted and wavering, he says, uhh ... I'm at the movies let me call you back. Then, out of the blue, I receive an email telling me I'm no longer a part of the Aces.

Another great decision made by the ABA CEO for not granting a Market Reservation to Mark for a team in Kissimmee.

Instead, He (The ABA CEO); to a higher degree than ever before; is continuing to let unprofessionalism permeate the ABA both on and off the court.

Hey, don't worry Orlando Aces about having any fans at your games this year ...

Because they will all be at the Orlando Sharks indoor soccer games!
