View Full Version : Is a Hugo a Mercedes?

Lets take a serious look and give credit where credit is due.
If you have a mercedes sales lot with 10 mercedes in a row and there is a Hugo stuck between them, is the Hugo now a Mercedes? Is it now the same craftsmanship and style because the Hugo is in the same group of Mercedes?
well then lets look at this on OSC:
ABA CBA D-League IBL PBL USBL WBA WNBA
WHICH ONE DOESNT BELONG? Which ones work hard to make a league successfull, play all there games, listen to input from owners, have uniforms that match, etc etc etc. Have a leadership group that strives to improve year to year. Has owners who have the finances to play all the games?
Its time to remove the one that doesnt belong. It brings down the other leagues who work hard to make things happen. It gives credibility to a league that doesnt deserve it at the expense of the other leagues that do work hard.
Maybe time for another category: "Semi- Pro Rec league that may play a game"
Time to set things right.

Actually, there are more than one you can take out:
ABA, WBA, and maybe USBL.

No other CEO or commisioner of a league has:
1. Not paid players when owning a tean and having an $ 800,000 judgement aganist him or the league
2. Taken 5 k ,10 k , 20 k and let the owners then wallow.
3. Borrow money from owners and not pay back after the owners brought a team in at the last minute. Promise to reimburse then dont.
4. Have numerous Law suits, see capital growth investment co. law suit.
5. Shifted the ABA license to different companies. See Jaloza ruling.
shall I continue?,,, the truth hurts doesnt it. Therefore the other leagues belong in a different category. You league can stay on OSC, just in its own category.

How?
The ABA's financial report. Have you even bothered to read it?
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=abkb.ob
D-League: ALL games finished. ALL bills paid. Spurs just bought their own team. Problems? Sure. About to die? Not a chance in hell...
WBA: ONE bad year. Started with a co-owner who also co-owned an ABA TEAM. Whoops...
IBL: Hottest growing league right now.
PBL: Formed by mainly legitimate teams from the ABA.
Yes, there are some (smaller amount) of failures in each league (or will be in the PBL). But there's a difference between failure and EMBARRASSMENT.
Even poor fans in ABA cities overwhelmingly think Uncle Joe is a complete EMBARRASSMENT to minor league sports and needs to be forced out.
Direct your disdain to the highly questionable tactics, statements, and history of Uncle Joe Newman....

i only came on here for the Silverbacks, the league is a mess and a joke basically because of its CEO and Im just gona stop there
And with the Silverbacks questioning the season, well idk how much longer Ill be posting, at least on the ABA board, but if the Silverbacks fold, i guarantee that good ol Joe will put another team here, and then ill follow that for 2 games until they fold, another team here would do worse than the Silverbacks(Rapids) ever did!!
But hopefully they play this season, so I could talk about games, players, etc... not a crappy CEO who isnt doing his job very well
Were "leaning towards playing"
I also came across new info, that makes me feel a little more confident that we'll play, but I cant share it with the board, yet
But theres still a chance out there that we wont play

I don't care if I am banned again.
Then why are you still posting?
The fans here are simply not going to let Joe Newman and his "defenders" get away with deflecting from the truth and spewing more nonsense.
Read it again... http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=ABKB.OB
The ABA is bleeding money. Worse, they are not paying all the bills, all the players, all the venues, playing all their games, etc. Comparing them to the WNBA (which at least PAYS its bills) is aburd.
Everyone is bad so Uncle Joe is okay. Uh-huh...get a grip, the ABA has the least credibility of ALL minor leagues, INCLUDING the NIFL.
God, this is like shooting dead fish in a barrel...

Yay for the First Amendment.
Go read the first amendment again. It doesn't apply here.
I'll probably get banned for being too intelligent
Unlikely.
You guys have a pathology about the league and your credibility would be served to say why?
Because the ABA is damaging minor-league basketball on a scale the others can't match. Their failures and missteps are bigger, bolder and affect more people.
Oh, and their CEO simply can't tell the truth or deal with people in a businesslike manner.
Were you abused by a child?
Nope.
Were you personally robbed by Joe?
Nope, but lots of people have been lied to by him and lost money because of him (while being given "an opportunity" in Joespeak). I feel for them.
Serioiusly, were you a previous owner who was promised something by Joe and he did not deliver.
No. Though there are enough of those folks out there.
Otherwise, stick to reality and stop the hate!
The "hate" is based in reality.
We're not talking about other leagues. They suck, too. But not nearly as badly as the collection of ragtag teams run by Joe Newman.
If he wasn't such a jackass, we'd give him the benefit of the doubt. If he was obviously trying to do the right thing in the face of incredible odds, we'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
But he's not. He's dishonest. He's a jerk. His league makes grandiose statements and doesn't come close to living up to them.

If we're playing the logic game, I would say the WNBA doesn't belong. But hey, that's just me.

WNBA completes their games. hey the league to me is a failure because it does not attract an audience that it deserves and also the 2 20 minute halves is so ANTI NBAish but hey so is the d league at least the WNBA gets butts in seats lol

(a) The WNBA doesn't use two twenty-minute halves anymore. They went to quarters starting in 2006. Try and keep up.
(b) WTF is a Hugo?

A Hugo is the science fiction equivalent of an Oscar. What he reffered to is the Yugo a cheap Yugoslavian car in the 70's which went for about $3000 and became worthless as soon as it was driven off the lot due to having way to many problems with it.

And it didn't help any that the wind blew one off the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan.

Sam i dont care about the WNBA so there. It's too boring and some of the games seem too robotic for me. Heck its in the olympics and i change the channel since it puts me to sleep faster than Vin Scully doing play by play

Yet you invoke it to make a point.
Pay attention to stuff.

ok heres the point the WNBA is a failure. when you have San Antonio buying a d league team when we all know they ditched their WNBA team because it was losing money hey the league is a failure. crowds getting smaller. quality of play is not even. New York has become the female knicks of the league. League is always losing money. The girls get paid more anywhere else than in the states. media coverage has become minimal especially in New York out of all places.
