Every year, I enjoy watching the World Bowl on FOX. I'm glad the NFL gives US exposure to these players and all. But this year, I have a major bone to pick with FOX and the NFL, why was the final 2 minutes plus post-game coverage scuttled off to the FX Network? I live in Canada and do not get the FX Network because some government bureaucrats in Ottawa do not think we deserve it. I was appalled, I frankly do not care about an early June baseball game between the Dodgers and the Red Sox. So instead of finding out whether Frankfurt completed a miracle comeback (which they didn't), I was subjected to the opening innings of a bloody baseball game. So much for exposing some of tommorrow's stars today. I commend both FOX and the NFL for their tactics today. I hope in the future when a tape delayed broadcast is given a certain timeslot, that they shorten half-time to make it fit. I frankly, would give up that to see a game in its entirety.
This is the second time this season the CRTC has screwed me out of seeing the conclusion of a football game. When programming occurs on a Canadian local channel that also occurs on an American channel at the same time, the Canadian channel is bled over on the American channel. This is done so Canadian advertisers do not lose their viewers and hence their potential audience. (Us Canadians get screwed out of Super Bowl commercials every year.) I was watching an AFL game on NBC, when a golf tournament that was scheduled to start at 2 began on Global. However, the AFL was headed into overtime so NBC stayed with the game. But not in Canada, the technicians flipped over their broadcast to the golf tournament feed and bled over the AFL game and never returned to the overtime. I left a message at my local Global affiliate and never even received an apology. I am sick and tired of missing out on the conclusion of football games due to the frickin' Canadian government. I'm sure there are other Canadian fans who agree with me right?
