Maybe it's time to move away from the ABA Smackdown ...

And totally move our interest toward help building up other leagues across the Americas.

It is quite apparent, that the pinnacle of Minor League Basketball will not be the Red, White and Blue basketball of the ABA.

So, let's begin to build honest and real relationships with organizations here in the USA and leagues from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Japan and throughout the world. And I'm talking about from the adults down to the kids.

With everything that has been happening in nearly every basketball league; both major and minor; would our time not be better served by getting involved in those leagues who are looking to offer something new, exciting and could have a bright future ahead?

Let's help all those existing and new developing leagues to reach their goals.

Let's get these leagues added to OSC and start building some momentum.

There is room for all these leagues, but they all need to come together and decide how they can all benefit and strengthen each other, while maximizing and maintaining a level of professionalism that will brand their leagues with a seal of excellence.

Maybe it's time to let the ABA supporters have their OSC Message Board to themselves ... and the rest of us can move on over to some of the other leagues who are looking to garner some support and discussion.

I for one ... would like to help the WBA. I would like to see that league become a successful Southeastern Regional League. There is alot of untapped potential with the WBA right now, IMO.

Who is willing to sign on and support the other leagues here at OSC?

this goes to Paul.

Paul. I'm asking that the BSN from Puerto Rico which is an American Basketball League be added to OSC. We are a league with national and international tv exposure. When games are televised either live or through a tape delay(round robin playoffs only) we are a league that deserves its merit. This league has been around since 1930 that means 77 years of pro basketball in this American Territory or Island.

In our 77 years we have had great coaches such as

Tex Winters
Lou Rossini
Jack Mckenney
Larry Costello
Mauro Panaggio Sr.
Red Holzman
Del Harris
Larry Brown
Herb Brown
Phil Jackson
Flip Saunders
Bernie Bickerstaff
George Karl

Many of them even before the CBA stepped foot here and won here.

just saying a point to add us in

I think adding the BSN from Puerto Rico would be a great idea!

I, myself, have archived alot of info from Standard's posts here at OSC regarding the organizational and operational structure of the BSN, which has been very insightful.

I'd like to learn if the BSN teams have any youth academies or youth programs.

Also, Do they encourage athletic/educational/cultural exchange programs?

the BSN works with every youth category basketball program in the island.
Teams also form "Scout" teams in where they can develop players and maybe have one make the cut to the big team.

The BSN handles their league player tryouts and pre-draft camp.

Prospective players DO NOT PAY to tryout.

Camp is broken up by collegiate basketball players and non-collegiate.

Community programs by all teams. No team rejects their people they embrace them. Players and management go to schools, create camps and clinics, go around town marketing their team .
BSN teams have helped many athletes go to college. Now in days BSN teams want you to get an education but you can't play for a BSN team until you either drop out of college or graduate from a 4 year school. Until 2002 Puerto Rican college players were allowed to play in the BSN but for only room and board. We at Ponce had "signed" Carmelo Anthony who's family is from Ponce. We lost him due to that bad bad bad lol. NCAA Regulation that was put in 2002.
We the owners and team partners have asked the BSN to create an english page. We have many english speaking individuals that checkout our page and praise the fact that scores are updated real time. stats are updated once the game is over.
(Note: In Ponce. We are one of 3 teams (Arecibo and Santurce)that has Nike & Nike Jordan Brand giving us sneakers for free. Next year, 2008 Nike becomes our team outfitter.)

77 years you have to show integrity, respect and class

I wonder if we should even recognize leagues until they actually play 75% of their games in one season. Experience teaches that two-thirds of the startups never get off the ground.
