The Austin Wranglers in conjunction with the Arena Football League are proud to announce that defensive lineman Rob Schroeder has been named to the AFL’s All-Rookie Team for 2007.
Schroeder (6-4, 285, Buffalo), led all rookies in the AFL with 4.5 sacks on the season. He was third amongst all defensive linemen in the AFL with seven pass breakups. With the Wranglers, he led the team in sacks (4.5), tackles for a loss (5.0) and blocks (3). Schroeder also made 18.0 tackles (16 solo), had two fumble recoveries including one for a touchdown and seven pass breakups.

Single-game highlights for Schroeder included a 2.5 sack performance against Southern Division rivals, the Orlando Predators. Last week, he concluded his breakout rookie season against another Southern Division opponent, the Tampa Bay Storm, notching one sack, one tackle for a loss, two tackles and a quarterback hit.

Schroeder played with the Rochester Raiders during the inaugural year of the Great Lakes Indoor Football League in 2006.

Thank you for your constructive post. We take pride in seeing our alumni do well when they move on to bigger and better things. I'm sure Rob appreciates the opportunities that the Raider organization gave him last year...

Will we be reading any similar stories regarding any current Surge players in the future?

I would say yes - when the team moves on to bigger and better things - like AF2.

Congrats to Rob. Always good to see an indoor player move up the ladder, no matter which league he is in.

Remember kiddies, this is what these leagues are for.

Ah, I see. Well, congrats on that, since I'm sure you're the new investor willing to splurge on all those hefty af2 fees...

No? ok, I'm sorry about the misunderstanding... good luck in the playoffs and we'll see you guys next season.

Nope not me... But I have a good idea who will be. Plus I already have a job. Probably make more than you, and been doing the same one much longer than you and I'm sure will be around longer than you too.

Oh and as far as fees go? You get what you pay for. We got stores in Massachusetts that sums up the CIFL. Do a wikipedia on "Building 19".

Maybe with "hefty fees", some of us fans wouldn't have had to watch the "real" teams in the CIFL take on the local pop-warner team, among other things.

That's the problem with this league. You all think you're smug and spend more time than you should hangout out on message boards than you do fixing your problems.

Say hi to Mickey for me.

This thread started out as a pat on the back for a guy that is moving up the football foodchain, and has turned into another bashfest.

There are plenty of places to bash the league.

Can't we just be happy for Rob Schroeder in this thread?

Absolutely. And I'm just as sure that we'll be hearing about lots of ex-CIFLers when the league totally collapses, which isn't far off.

Those "hefty" afl2 fees are what keeps the fly-by-night owners away.

And there's virtually no chance the Surge are in the CIFL next season.
