The Austin Wranglers in conjunction with the Arena Football League are proud to announce that defensive lineman Rob Schroeder has been named to the AFL’s All-Rookie Team for 2007.
Schroeder (6-4, 285, Buffalo), led all rookies in the AFL with 4.5 sacks on the season. He was third amongst all defensive linemen in the AFL with seven pass breakups. With the Wranglers, he led the team in sacks (4.5), tackles for a loss (5.0) and blocks (3). Schroeder also made 18.0 tackles (16 solo), had two fumble recoveries including one for a touchdown and seven pass breakups.
Single-game highlights for Schroeder included a 2.5 sack performance against Southern Division rivals, the Orlando Predators. Last week, he concluded his breakout rookie season against another Southern Division opponent, the Tampa Bay Storm, notching one sack, one tackle for a loss, two tackles and a quarterback hit.
Schroeder played with the Rochester Raiders during the inaugural year of the Great Lakes Indoor Football League in 2006.
