View Full Version : Eric Williams ... now with Gary?
I read that Eric Williams, who played this season with Albany, is now with Gary.
Unless I misunderstand the rules, a player must play with a team for four games to be eligible for the postseason roster.
That's why the Cagerz rushed in Lee Benson and Reggie Moore so they could get in the final four games.
Did Gary pick up a couple of doubleheaders this week?

According to the rules, any player from a team that has folded is eligible for the tournament as long as that player has participated in at least four games with the beforementioned folded team. Any team accepting this player cannot exceed the roster limit of twelve players.

Ah Heck! I just made that up. I've never seen the USBL rulebook. :D
The players shouldn't be penalized because their team ran out of money and ceased operations. All the remaining teams should be able to pick-up former Albany, Jackson and Delaware players that have played at least four games...Besides, you didn't REALLY think Kansas was going to have a cakewalk--did you? ;)

Even though the league stinks pretty much right now, we still gotta follow the rules.

Who says Gary isn't following the rules? The rule may be exactly what I guessed it may be under these circumstances. It's not like Eric Williams is a ringer from another league or something. He would have been in the post-season tournament anyway if the Patroons hadn't quit.
Eric Williams isn't a ringer, but I'm pretty sure he shouldn't be a member of Gary.
I am fairly certain Williams isn't eligible because I recall something like this coming up in a previous season.
To me, it's as simple as Gary went and did something knowing that there really isn't anybody to step up and enforce the rule.
If teams thought they could go get those players, maybe they would have. Kareem Reid and MVP candidate Ronald Ross would be nice additions for most teams.
The Cagerz haven't had a cakewalk all season, not sure I'd know one if I saw it!
Damn, maybe somebody from league office will read this and clarify the rules for us!
