Tbayz and Corning I dont mean to rattle your feathers but it looks like your Buffalo vs Corning rivalry is as good as dead. Antoine Simms the center piece of the Buffalo Silverbacks for the past two seasons has said enough with the mess in Buffalo and moved on to the Detroit Panthers, one of the elite ABA teams. Corning even addmited in a post that Buffalo Silverbacks players were signed up for his tryout camp as well. So go ahead and cross Buffalo off the 2007-2008 list because if the players dont believe Buffalo will have a team then I think that should say a lot about the state of being of the 2007-2008 Buffalo Silverbacks. Hey Corning if Tbayz thinks you guys will be the next Vermont Frostheaves of the ABA you might want to pick up the phone and call Alex before he makes out his schedule 2 months before the rest of the league does again this season.

I know about Sims and Detroit, heres the deal, towards the end of the season his attitude was bad, he didnt want any part of what was going on with the team because the end of the season was shakey, he was a headache for the whole team and had a bad temper
I brought this up to Todd on Saturday and told him "Hey Sims is going to Detroit", he said "I Dont Care, I didnt want him back after his crap last year, no doubt hes a great player and great shooter but he doesnt play defense, and I dont want his attitude on the team." He also said "Id rather have Lamar Castile any day over Sims, wouldnt you!" I would agree!
Its a tough loss, but with his attitude have fun in Detroit, also he can have fun making 300/game IF THEY WIN, its like 100 somthing a game IF THEY LOSE, o well I guess we'll just have to find someone else that can shoot and dribble
And 06er he didnt carry this team until this year, in 2005-2006, he didnt come along until mid-season, and Tim Winn was our star player, followed by Johnny Tyson and DeRon Rutledge, and also Wille Chandler, Sims wasnt the star on that team, but he did have a 50+ point game that year against the 2-Win Boston Frenzy!
And Corning can be like the Heaves, its a small town atmosphere where that team is a big deal and the people love it, lets see how James does, I think he'll do alright!
Dont count us out just because we lost ONE player, and ask James about the 2 Silverbacks that went to his camp, one they liked and offered a ticket to the next tryout camp and the other, well James was the only one out of like 4 others that thought the kid was good, so that really shows that were falling apart

Lets give a hand for 06er because he can read a press release annoucing the Sims signing
Good Job, Tom Chi, or Joe, or Dick or whoever you are
And I love how Detroit calls him "The best guard in the league" no doubt hes up there and very very talented, but look what he did against our win versus Vermont, he had 11 points and what did Lamar Castile have, hmmm 45? Once Castile came along he was the best player on the team!!
Castile>Sims
Tim Winn decided to quit this season and retire, because "Things werent right for him" And we did just fine w/o him, in fact we played a whole lot better, because he wasnt shooting 40 times a game and not passing

ABA06er,
How can you be so for the ABA and then so against one of the more stable franchises of the ABA ? The Buffalo Silverbacks have been around for two full seasons , do a little research on that one.
Yes , we had Buffalo Silverbacks players attend the Corning Bulldogs tryout camp, but the 2006-2007 season is over and players shop around to see what/if any other offers are out there for them. We also had Rochester Razorshark players attend the tryout camp, why dont you waste your time dedicating a thread to that ?
I am sure this is not the first nor will it be the last time a player has changed teams in a Professional Sports league or tryed out with a different team in the same league.

2 very fun seasons, ive seen great games, great talent, and have had a ton of fun, watching teams like Buffalo vs. Rochester or Maryland or Strong Island or Detroit or Vermont, was more fun to watch than an NBA game!
Hopefully we can make it a 3rd season...
And i can watch exciting games between Buffalo and Corning, and I could most likely travel down to Corning for a game or two!!
And 06er, ya know what is really falling apart, is your CEO, maybe he should cross himself off as CEO not only for 07-08, but for the rest of his life!!!!

Would this be considered the first big ABA free agent signing?

That the ABA CEO and his supporters ALWAYS feel they must degrade and discredit any individual, team, or organization who does not side with or favor the personal position or statement of the ABA CEO?
The ABA needs a NEW CEO who knows how to be a consumate professional who sets a standard that is way above the bar!

oo and FYI there is nothing in that article that says "Sims had enough with Buffalo" We've had enough with him!
He wasnt going to be back with us anyways, end of story.
And yeah, SIS Id consider this a big free agent signing lol, Detroit was good last year and now they have a good guard that can really shoot, but they can have fun with him off the court and with his attitude, and he can have fun with Detroits pay, like i said hes got ALOT of talent on the court, but off the court and the way he acted, Buffalo didnt want him back
Good Luck Sims! and watch out for Detroit this year, they got some talent on that team with Katu Davis, and Willie Wallace, and a few others!!
