Slow and steady wins the race...PBL is going to be a winner. Jack O'connor writes in his Miami sports "Overtime" : The CEO of the new Premier Basketball league. Tom Doyle, was in Miami June 9th and 10th speaking with the members of the Brazilian national basketball team for an international game against the PBL ALL-Stars. The PBL is a new minor league that plans to operate begining January 2008

The information is out there, just have to know where to look.

Hmmm could the PBL fail? Sure it could. BUT everyone Knows THE ABA is already a failure.

Just keep your eyes on the jaloza Law suit against Joe..........

"The information is out there, just have to know where to look."

a1sports I want the PBL to work out but if a "minor league detective" such as yourself has to go digging for information on the PBL , how is the every day Joe who's sitting in Arizona or any of the other states getting information on the PBL ? Thats right they are not.

Maybe instead of Doyle getting a tan in Miami he should be flying around to these States who the PBL says have teams and announcing the teams to the media along with the venues, coaches , how they can purchase tickets , maybe even let them know who owns the team that starts play in 6 months ?

The only logical reason why this info has not been released at this point has to be because it is not ready to be released and with 6 months left to tipp off I would then say the PBL is not ready for this season. They have smart people who run this so why not wait until 2008-2009 instead of setting the PBL for a crash and burn take off ?

On September 27, 2006, Pittsburgh announced it was joining the CBA, while Florida and Southern California opted to sit out. What I'm getting it is they had an even later start on things. While I was among those that thought it would lead to a real messy season, they had a decent year with only one causality, and most, if not all, teams returning. I certainly wouldn't recommend that the PBL finish putting things together at that point, but late June isn't a point where it's too late. And, good for him in setting up an all-star game already.

If the league doesn't have a pretty concrete list of teams by late August, I'll be more concerned. At this point, it's still early enough to put things together, have time to gather some sponsors, and sell tickets. Especially if a few of the "new" teams are some of the stronger ABA teams bailing, as has been rumored. They're already operating and doing these things now.

We are not talking about one team such as "Pittsburgh" jumping into a established 80 year old league at the last second.

We are talking about the entire league jumping in at the last second. This has the makings of a horror movie if they continue to attempt to launch this for 2007-2008. We dont even know who the PBL teams are , where they will play or even who owns the teams and they expect to launch a nation wide league in a handful of months from now.

The CBA pretty much started over last season. Only two teams returned and there was significant management turnover that included the head office relocating to a new city. It's not as different as you'd think. It just takes responsible leadership to make up the lost time.

Obviously, it's more important for them to know who they will be at this early stage. I'm sure all of the "established" new ABA teams have sold a couple thousand season seats due to their head start. But, in reality, in four months you can still create some buzz if it's done right. Like I said, if things aren't more established in late August, I'll be more concerned.

anything about running a team, but I have an idea of the hard work invoved. If you talk about running a league, you have to at least double that which makes the next 6 months go a lot faster, considering they have to get the work done before their season starts in January. I'm sure that posting their updates is the last thing they are concerned about, especially if they are new to running the league(they may or may not be). But I'm sure they are doing the best they can. At least you see they have some teams.

Point is MOOT....The PBL has the operating capital, everything else is secondary. If the ABA can be run from a basement with poor ownership groups and poor venues and still have 62% of the games played, just think if you have leagues ( CBA And PBL) with money and real business people what can happen.

At this point, PBL hasnt played a game yet, jury out, CBA is established, ABA jury is in...GUILTY of portraying itself as a professional league. Guilty of fooling the fans with local YMCA players, Guilty of not paying its players, Guilty of thinking a high school gym is professional. Guilty of playing on sub standard floors (this was for you Alex) Guilty of no stats, Guilty of NO games, Guilty of mismatched uniforms.Guilty of believing your CEO over and over.

Corning kid...I wish you good luck, I hope 6 months from now I dont have to include you in my documetary on how you too got swindled by Joe...but your posts have me worried, your too defensive, dont worry about the CBA and PBL....just go do your thing. I wish I had $ 200,000 to burn Kid...your lucky.

It's six months prior to the season. They have time.

This post has great information but has little to do with the ABA. It should be in the PBL forum not here.

This post has great information but has little to do with the ABA. It should be in the PBL forum not here.

Actually it deserves to be in every forum. The Joe-Newman-Experience has harmed all of minor league ball. Every league has felt the impact of this insane company and its ludicrous idea of how to run a business.

Joe has singlehandledly done what no minor league hockey commissioner, indoor soccer genius, rodeo or circus has ever done.............stop people paying good money to see minor league basketball and move on to another sport.

The Joseph Newman hour is upon us. This is simply the worst run league possibly in the history of minor league sport. Maybe the NIFL could hold a candle to this debacle. Maybe.
