The PBL aka Peanut Butter League .....

was suppose to tip off the season in December or January depending on which person from the PBL you heard from (they all had different answers) Looks like the only tipping they will be doing will be with Cows !

That is the smallest problem facing the PBL - The league was suppose to tip off in 5 to 6 months yet the only teams with working websites are the former ABA franchises and still some of those teams have heard NOTHING about the other teams that the PBL has said are coming into the PBL.....

So the PBL teams not having websites in June is a big reason they'll fail come this winter?

Man, you're really reaching. I mean, it's unbelievable.

I have no idea if the PBL is going to make it or become just another bit of alphabet soup down the drain of minor league basketball. The odds aren't with anyone who tries to do it.

But they can't possibly do it worse than the ABA's been doing it for the last 6+ years. They just can't. You can list anything you want about how the PBL (or any other minor basketball league) has screwed up, the ABA has done it all times twelve.

The ABA has a website.....how's that league working out so far?? So instead of waiting and doing it the proper way, lets throw up some crap like most ABA teams do, just so we can have a website. Good thinking.

Hey ABA06er, how much is Newman throwing your way to kiss the ABA's ass? The ABA has been a laughing stock since 2000, and has only gotten worse. No media recognizes this rec-league, and none ever will. Websites, advertising, there will never be more than 50 people in the stands for 90% of the teams. The Chicago Throwbacks have a website that hasn't changed in months. Hawaii announces a tentative schedule.........against who? They circle 18 dates on a calender and call it a schedule.

The only way to end this yearly misery is for all owners to pull out, find another league and leave Joe Newman sititng there with his pud in his hand wondering what happened.

Winning the ABA Championship is like being the tallest midget.......no one recognizes it and furthermore, no one will ever care.

Proof?

I have wondered about some of the teams and hope to make an intelligent response as opposed to those above me.

The teams do not a website, name, or known owner. They do not have a venue, coach, or players. A a couple of the ABA teams that came over such as Minnesota drew only 300-500 for their games. Good for the ABA, but not going to cut it in a league that requires national transport.

Now PLEASE don't respond to this post with a bunch of rambling about how it's miles better than the ABA, because, quite frankly, it hasn't shown anything to show that. It's expansion franchises at this stage are in the same place as most in the ABA. When it plays games and finishes seasons, it will have earned that title.

HE is right in that regard. They should have the we sites up and they should be selling. When you announce a team, you have they venue announced, their web site up and running and the front office staff hitting the phones selling. Six months is not enough time to generate enough revenue.

This doesnt make the ABA look better, how many teams in the ABA dont have a running website or havent been updated in months

Yes i think its a little disappointing that its just states and not more specific especially for expansion teams and a new league and everything is coming along slowly, but at least theyre not rushing and doing a half fast job, unlike Newman and his ABA, the PBL at least has some brains, but i think things need to be annouced and they dont need to rush but start getting the specifics out there and more info!

With a new league and alot of expansion teams, theres not too much info, does anyone even know anything about expansion teams? I dont think so, my hype for this league has dropped, theyre not doing things the way i expected, i thought teams and websites would have been done a long time ago, i think they have some good ideas and brains in the PBL, but do the teams? who most of which we have no clue who they are, for once ABA06er might have a point here

I just dont know about this league yet, nor do i really care at this point, all i worry about is the Silverbacks

Maybe the PBL is finding it a bit harder to run a league than what was expected. The CBA has had allot of years. The NBDL has the NBA backing. To go and start up a league is a huge endeaver, and really the guys who are running the PBL cut their teeth on the ABA. Their teacher was garbage, so--we shall see

GLASS HOUSE ALERT...GLASS HOUSE ALERT!!!

13 out of 55 with no website. 2 more that are myspace pages. We’ll give them credit anyway. By the way…a few contact details on ABALive should’ve been updated a while ago (nice to see that Jimmy Lyons has finally been removed from contact details for the Aces).

So… 76 % of the teams have a website. That’s pretty good…NOT! THE LEAGUE HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2000!!!! No excuse – all info should be updated, and all teams should have working websites. If you can’t afford a website, how can you afford to own a team?

I admit – the PBL should be moving a bit faster, but…the one thing I respect about the PBL – they don’t reveal information unless it is complete and accurate. They are not throwing things together. They obviously have a game plan, and they are pushing along in a professional manner.

You’re welcome!

I wish the PBL nothing but the best. Dennis Lee , one of my assistant coaches grew up and went to high school, then worked construction and is still good friends with Chris Iverson the VP of Basketball Operations of the Rochester Razorsharks.

At the same time heavesrock brings up a good point. What has the PBL shown us or minor league basketball fans ? A opening season is closing in and no announcments on websites , team info , tickets , seasons tickets or in most cases we dont even know who or if a owner of the teams even exists.

I wish the PBL nothing but the best, but everyday that passes with out answers to these questions is another day of revenue lost and with it another day closer to failing.

At least the owners don't have to worry about what's going on with a bunch of lawsuits! Also, let's remember, the PBL has 6 months...the ABA has 4, and they also have teams without websites (or myspace pages). First year for the PBL...7th year for the ABA. Time for new management, ABA??? YES!

Bulldogs is right - it is put up or shut up time for these PBL teams. And none of them have put up anything yet....has a single ticket or sponsorhip been sold?

Having said that, the ABA is such a train wreck that ABA folks are the last ones who should be casting stones. There is a reason that teams leave the ABA every year to join other leagues.

Bulldogs will learn the hard way, just like so many have before him. Good luck Bulldogs - lord knows that you will need it (and about $200,000 of your own $$$) just to finish the season.... By the second or third cancelled game, your few fans and sponsors will find other things to spend money on.

My advice, do not schedule any home games when Corning East or Corning West is playing or when the Jackals are home. And under NO circumstances pay for ANYTHING (like your visitors travel or uniforms) that Joe promises to reimburse you for.

It is one thing to be against the ABA , it is another to defend a league that has brought nothing to the table at this point. Heavesrock hit the nail right on the head, what has the PBL shown ?

I am a basketball fan , I will route for any basketball league that supports giving players a chance to do what they love. I believe the PBL is all for this so I support them for this.

At the same time the PBL has lost an incredible amount of time to advertise the teams in the league. The Corning Bulldogs are now making headway in the Corning area but we have been out and about now for a full year. These PBL teams that start play in 6 months dont have announced venues, team names, tickets, and in most cases even owners.

I am left scratching my head because I know what it takes to get a team attention and it takes a lot more then 6 months to do it right. I believe anyone who has run a team or runs a team will tell you that 6 months is not even enough time to take a team from scratch and get them to play. I hope the PBL announces all of these things in a few days or moves the league to play in 2008-2009 which I think would be great for the PBL and would give these expansion franchises time to advertise.

CB,

I am not defending the PBL. As a matter of fact, I quote from my own post:

"Bulldogs is right - it is put up or shut up time for these PBL teams. And none of them have put up anything yet....has a single ticket or sponsorhip been sold? "

My question to you is do you really know what you're getting into? Will people really pay $10 to drive up the hill in winter when they could stay in Corning and see their neighbors kids play at Corning East and West for $3? And in a hockey-mad area, will they pay $10 to get to the remote CCC campus instead of $6 for EC hockey or $8 for Jackals hockey?

As a minor league basketball fan, I wish you all the best. I'd just hate to see the Corning-Elmira area burned by a mid-season fold, and unless you are willing to drop a few hundred thousand grand of your own dough, that's what might happen.

Those of us on these boards who have followed the ABA can tell you that Joe is very good at selling dreams without mentioning the dark realities. And the reality is that if you keep your winter time ticket price at $10 at a venue with bleachers located at the top of a hill with just a twisty road up to it, you'l be lucky to average 200 fans a game - that's just $36,000 in revenues against an operating budget of at least $200,000. And very few ABA teams raise more than $10,000 in cash sponsorships (and maybe another $10,000 in trades).

For your sake - I hope I am wrong. I plan to get to Corning early in the season to see the Bulldogs while I can.

We have the support and the money to start and finish the season. I would be worrying more about the PBL teams, atleast the ABA has a league to start play in.

Luckily for the PBL Citys , no one at this point knows the exist. I want the PBL to work out but if you told me to join a league and it was now 6 months to judgment day and I am still waiting to announce my venue, coaches, tickets, season tickets or that I even own a team, this would give me some serious second thoughts.

Why rush this ? I think the PBL has the right make up and brains to make this work in 2008-2009 , it appears to be a crash and burn take off for December, 2007.

I know the ABA has its flaws , alot of minor league basketball does as well. Just look at whats going on in the USBL.
The good teams in the ABA this season are prepared to weather the storm and that ABA does have intact a system to make sure that every team plays its 18 home games on time even if the visiting team cancels a team is sent in thier place. Is this a great thing to have ? no. Does it atleast secure home games for the good ABA teams ? yes.
If I was a fan and I had to choose between supporting an ABA team that I knew was going to play on a given date but might be playing a different team I would take that over a team from the PBL for the 2007-2008 season, Why you ask ? Because the 2007-2008 PBL season from a realistic point of view as no chance if a chance at all.

I know people in the PBL , I want the PBL to work. I also know what it takes first hand to start a new team from scratch. That is what these PBL teams are starting from , it is not that only we dont know where or when they will play but it is as bad as we dont even know who owns the team in the first place and the PBL tipps off in less then 6 months ?

Thanks , but I will take my chances in the ABA.

James(corning bulldogs) has a good plan and approach, and what helps is that hes in a small town with his only competition being local schools, no other professional sports to compete with, hes also getting alot of attention from media and the community, i think the Bulldogs are going to do pretty good, jus like Vermont whos in a small town that has gained the communitys attention and support for the team

Lets hope my Silverbacks play, so we can have a nice little rivalry between Corning and Syracuse(if 'Cuse can survive), and also travel would be easy and cheap for all of us :)

James, sounds like were leaning towards it!

For me, at this point...I wouldn't judge ANY team by the league they play in. I would judge each team by their activity in the community. There are bad-team cases in every league - INCLUDING the NBA. Look how long it took the Clippers to get somewhere. They did, and what happens???? The next year they are out of it again. BAD MANAGeMENT!

Folks, take a good look at your team. See what they are about, see if they have a REAL vision for existence. Evaluate whether or not they are legit, or if they are owned by a person/group just interested in getting $10/ game from people to fatten their own pockets.

As for the PBL, they have the ABA to thank, because they'd REALLY have to do something terrible to be degraded worse than the ABA.

Tbayz,

I appreciate the kind words and the support. I am looking forward to the Corning VS Buffalo rivalry as well. I am housing my enitre team free of charge to the players and the housing will most likley be in the Finger Lakes region which is along I-90 (NYS Thruway) which is the same interstate that Buffalo and Syracuse lie on.

If Syracuse gets things together this could get very interesting. Either way I think Corning VS Buffalo games are going to be the hot ticket in the North East this season.

Yeah...you're right. I got to do an Economics research paper on the Clippers owner - Donald Sterling. I learned all about his selfish, fatten-my-pocket ways. Crazy guy - strange to see a guy like him own a basketball team. It's almost like he doesn't even like basketball. That was a paper I did...like...9 years ago, though. I was surprised to see him as the owner still when the Clipps made the playoff run.

I feel for Tim Thomas, though. At least he got paid. Should've stayed in PHX, though. They were starting to love him!

It's entirely possible the PBL could be consigned to the scrap heap of minor professional sports like all the others. I don't know. You don't know. It is troubling that they don't seem to have their stuff together (and it goes deeper than websites).

But you can't prove that the ABA's not a joke by saying that another league is also a joke (though with a lesser track record of being a joke). The ABA retired the trophy.

Personally, I wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for any of these leagues. Minor pro basketball just doesn't seem to work very well in this country (and the ones just north and south of us).

But you make it worse when you're a scam artist.

Question: What other league has to trash upstart leagues every 5 seconds to make itself try to look bigger, to try it deflect over lawsuits, lies, announced teams with no venues, and the usual pap from the ABA?

No one is trashing the PBL , we want the PBL to do good. However if you try to launch a brand new start up league with teams that have no information on them as the season is closing in , the prospects of it working are slim to none.

I think this is more of a wake up call because people want to see it work out then a bash on the PBL. I know what it takes to start up a team and it takes a lot more then 6 months and just about every team in the PBL has not even been announced at this point. This is not bashing , this is just what is going on.

I know what it takes to start up a team and it takes a lot more then 6 months and just about every team in the PBL has not even been announced at this point. This is not bashing , this is just what is going on.

The thread titles of the guy in the glass house trashing the PBL:

Pbl Is Making The Aba Look Good - Check Out This Info !!!

Pbl Investors - New Info You Cant Miss Out On ( Or Should I Say Lack Of Info) !!!!!

Pbl Investors - This Is Why You Should Be Nervous....

ANYTHING said about the PBL is speculative compared to the ABA. The ABA has a poor history since 2000. Announcing teams without a venue (then finding out later it was a fraud), teams folding in midseason all the time, league website rarely updated except for Crazy Joe's spin, lawsuits, unpaid players, unpaid venues, bashing the media, it goes on and on and on and on.

Some rubber red white and blue ball ain't chaning the truth. The PBL could fold tomorrow and have more credibility than the ABA.

Trashing, and that is what it is, TRASHING the PBL when the ABA is a major living fraud in beyond hypocrisy.

Please take the tree out your eye before talking about the speck from someone else's....

ABA06er is a nut case who 99% of the time is off in left field , dont compare him to us more credible posters just because you do not like what you hear.

The PBL's rate of failure goes up every day that passes that they have not announced a proposed team in the city it is to play in or a venue , tickets, season tickets or in most cases even who owns the proposed teams. These teams need to be marketed if they wish to stand a chance.

With only 6 months left until the opening tip off this is not bashing the PBL , this is reality.

hey Corning Kid...Ill give you the benefit of the doubt, BECAUSE AT 24 YOU HAVE A LOT TO LEARN AND jOE IS TAKING YOU TO SCHOOL THIS YEAR...

You say , in your opinion you need more than 6 months to get a team and organization ready? Well lets look at the ABA and you will find that over the past 6 years 38% of the teams that YOUR CEO let in have started
with>>> less than a month till the season started, >>>>started after the season started, >>> started mid season. or better yet>>>never started at all.

so again, lesson 101 at JOE University is..do some research before you post. I know your excited kid...but reality is the toughest course out there.

worry about you team and your league...

PS Buffalo will not be playing unless the Buffalo owner makes a big stock hit...check out his company stock.>>>> CNTL.OB. yup..looks like no Buffalo

A1sports,

If Tbayz sais Buffalo will play then I believe him , he knows the Buffalo people well.

Thanks for the conern but we have the backing to go to a different league if need be. We have turned down two leagues at this point in time, if I dont like what I see this season in the ABA then I will look into other options. We are invested in minor league basketball for the long haul.

We have signed two players at this point who might end up being the two most talented players in in minor league basketball ( check it out at www.corningbulldogs.com) Why are players so interested in us ? Because we do things the right way.

At the first tryout camp we flew top recruit players (paid for the round-trip flights in full) in from Chicago, Georgia and Washington D.C. , paid for their meals and hotel stay and treated them like kings. I personally took Al Stewart and other top recruits we flew in out to Applebees for dinner and said "hey get what ever you want" the bill came to almost $500 but we have all this money set aside just for these functions.

The elite players in minor league basketball are not signing with us because we play in the ABA , they are signing with us because we do the right things and they know they will be paid over hell or high water.

Im all for it James, Buffalo vs. Corning, i think it would be fun!!

And a1, just because our owner's company's stock is pretty much nothing doesnt mean anything, i believe he has made a lot of money over the years before starting this company a few years ago working in the same field and being active with stocks i believe, also i think all the revenue off the company made goes straight to him because he is the only stock holder of all the shares, he must be bringing in money through stock or has made alot over the years doing something because hes deff not poor, lives a pretty comfortable life and he wouldnt be able to complete 2 ABA seasons and losing money 2 years in a row and still live very comfortably

Sorry but im not a stalker of our owner and try and find things out about his personal life and finances, he has money to complete the season, the question is does he want to lose it for the third year in a row with little progress being made

The field that our owner is in, is a tough field, i think he has some cool products though, and i think he can hit it pretty BIG on just one if some investor comes along, heres a cool product dealing with the "Sports Marketing World"

http://www.centalecompro.com/?content=25
http://www.centalecompro.com/comprovideo/SEGMENT%2010%201_CENTALE.htm

His field is like a communication platform or database, idk but i think that sports product is cool!!

But let me just say, that i dont think that most money for the team is straight from Todd's company because its a small company trying to get big and trying to get investors and start making money and i would find it hard to believe that this company would be the sole provider of money for the team

tbayz1

Now James, just because I think so, doesnt mean its 100% true, our owner is a basketball junkie, his kids and their whole lives are basketball basketball basketball!! And hes only techinally ran the team for one whole season, he took over in late December in 05 from the old owner that ruined this franchise!

Todd doesnt seem like the person that would just quit and throw in the towel early, i think he knows he should give it one more shot, but its his decision, i spoke with him in person shortly on Saturday, and he said "hes leaning towards playing this year"

So the question about playing, IMO i think yes, but i cant speak for the man with the money, Todd Wier, but i mean it can go the other way also, if we didnt play, i still have had a great 2 years watching this team and it has been a good ride! But IMO i dont think its over just yet

I do know people well associated with the team, and they would have flat out told me a long time ago that, its over, were not playing, the team is no more

Corning- I have to admit..........you come across as a nice guy, a knowledgable guy, a basketball loving guy. You don't sound like a wino, like a complete mental case, an escaped lunactic, you don't come across like a guy afflicted with PTSD or a severe head injury. With that all being said why are you roped in with the ABA?

I honestly think if you take a step back and look at the evidence. Read these posts, read the SEC filings, make a couple of calls to former ABA owners and some journalists, I really think you might re-evaluate this.

Hear me out. You are convinced you will put a quality team on the floor, sell tix and be an honest businessman in putting out a product and offering it for sale. I believe you will do that as well. Now here's where the problems start. OK 1/ the Baltimore Bankrupts don't show up. So you call Joe. He will tell you that he can arrange the Charleston Chapter 11's to fly in but seeing as its the last minute you need to pay for airfare, hotel, and a Mcdonalds meal for the visiting Chapter 11's, he feels for you and says "look those guys the Baltimore Bankrupts let me down too", and then follows with "I'll split it with you, send me the bill if you have a loss and I'm good for half"

Now this is the first game of the season, now for games 2,3 and 4 you play Halifax (bus to Hamilton and then a flight to Halifax on Air Canada or Westjet is probably the cheapest) then play Cape Cod, (9-hour drive from Halifax to the Cape assuming you don't get caught in the Bourne Bridge or Boston traffic) then a quick jaunt to Strong Island.

Now game 5 is versus those pesky Fresno Frozen Assets!!!!! Yep, guess what they don't show. So you have to pay out of pocket for the Chicago Checkbouncers to come in or you can tell your fans there is no game.

Keep checking the mail for Joes' check.

I know you want to succeed. You seem like an up-front guy. But this is tantamount to opening a restaurant but having no chairs for people to sit, booze to drink or food to serve as your suppliers have let you down. I'm not saying the PBL, CBA, D-League and (certainly not) the USBL is going to be the right decision for you..........................but just take a look at history.

You feel backed into Joes' corner on this board, its easy to take an "I'll show them.........." attitude, but its not all in your hands. Just take a serious look at this and consider the worst case (ie -everyday standard operating procedure for the ABA) scenario.

Corning, I wish you all the success in this league and the way you sound so far, Im excited for you and your franchise.

It amazes me when we (ABA owners or fans) post anything concerning the PBL in our message board (ABA), we tend to get a few of you upset and bothered. I just started reading from the top just to see what the excitement was about and you guys never let me down with your hypocrisy. I just read Zeke's list of names of ABA teams with websites and there I see my team like with a star by it cause I have a myspace page instead of a true website. And all you did was prove what the guy that started this post made sense. A1sports get on here and tells us that the PBL were represented well in Vegas and yet they cant even give you guys the fans news on what you've been waiting for. Now we have discussed the past problems of the ABA but dont bring that up just because ABA06er has a good piont. Zeke just listed teams just to prove that very piont. Hell they dont even have a myspace page which is free.

Now speaking of myspace, you design and form a website to be seen, noticed and communicate with your fans. We have had more hits and calls in the last 4 days since changing our format to myspace. I advise all of the ABA teams to get a myspace page simply because its easy to manage and you are reaching out to alot of people at the end of the day. We do have a website, but I chose to redirect it to myspace since its been successful in reaching people and little young fans.

Good luck to you Corning and keep in touch with me every now and then.

Mr. Corning:

Some people (Very smart people siometimes) have to learn a lesson the hard way and I think you are one of those people. It's good that you have money to lose because you are going to lose a ton my friend.

I have a friend who owns a professional sports team. He's majority owner. When he bought the team, he was a hometown hero. Everybody just adored the guy. He built his career on taking chance and defying the odds. When someone said that it couldn't be done, he would go out there and do it anyway despite what people said.

He lost time and again until one day one of the risks he took paid off. He because wealthy beyond his dreams. He donated to charity and became a civic leader. Everybody loved this man because he took risks and beat the odds.

Now he's an old man. He still isn't satified. He is HATED in his home town. He will be forever remembered as the guy who ran the team into the ground. Attendance is 60% less than when he bought the team despite pumping in millions for top talent and in his words, doing things the RIGHT way,

I'll bet that everyone in his hometown will remember him not for being a generous civic minded family man but the guy who destroyed this team.

This could be you. Do you want to stay in Corning after your team folds? They will laugh behind your back. When the teams fail to appear at your home games or when Joe does something to your team, what are you going to do? Sue him?? Get in the back of the line. His assets are hidden well and I know a little about hiding assets! ;)

I'm not questioning that you can pull this off. It's the other teams and Joe that will bring you down.

I know you. I was you. I made a ton of money when I was young. Millions! I was in the software business and got very lucky.

I am not rich anymore. I'm sick and poor and my money is gone. I'm only 51 but my body is shot.

I tell you this because I wouldn't want anyone to become me and you my friend sound like me 25 years ago.

Don't be like my friend either. Swallow your pride, admit your mistake and if you want to own a team, try the CBA or PBL. I trust Gym Coyne, Doyle or the Rochester guys anyday over Joe.

You are a making a terrible mistake my friend.

Actually, cglue, my point was that ABA06er, a supporter or whatever
of the ABA, is attempting to declare the PBL a failure by standards that the ABA doesn't even meet. Here's the real issue - the ABA has 6 YEARS on the PBL - and they STILL aren't meeting a standard that 06er is quick to throw at the PBL. That was my main point.

...We do have a website, but I chose to redirect it to myspace since its been successful in reaching people and little young fans.

As for you having a website, I'd love to go to it. What's the address? Oh, and by the way, the myspace numbers are a bit misleading. You may have a lot of hits, but please, consider the quality of those hits. Myspace is filled with young children and spam-advertising low lifes who are not trying to get info for your team, so much as they are trying to freely advertise their product on your free page.

Ask yourself a couple of questions:

1. How would well-funded, successful sponsors feel about investing in a team that only has a myspace page?
2. For 6 years now the ABA has been run by a CEO who hasn't made any of the teams money - only fatten his own pockets. Do you think 7 (meaning 7th year) is the lucky year?

Keep this in mind - I'm the GM of the Aces. I want the league to succeed - but the right way. It's like a relationship. There are certain things you can do in a relationship that cannot be overcome. I fear that there have been things done that aren't repairable - until the CEO is replaced. Now Joe started this league, so hey...stay behind the scenes. That's fine. Get your money, Joe. But...let someone with morals and ethics run the ABA. You have failed. No one likes to fail, but it takes a bigger man to accept failure and move forward than it does to deny it and dig a bigger hole.

Since myspace has come up ill give my 2 cents about it:

as long as your myspace page isnt the team website(cough cough Anderson Champions) it can be a pretty good FREE marketing and advertising tool, many people can see it especially the younger crowds, its not hard to spread the word about something on a social networking site, it can be very affective and helpful

Fells

When it comes to the PBL, I think Corning is correct in saying it can be a success, but it may be better to wait until next season. From the people I have spoken with, the league sounds like it will be sound, has backing, and has good owners that are in place. But, in my humble opinion, they may be rushing things a bit.

When a league is formed, or for that matter any business, in this day and age a web presence is one of the first things that needs to be done. Being the 21st century, fans and potential investors will look for a website first, create an initial impression, and then seek contact information from there. Where the PBL has just a couple teams with sites, and the league's site isn't fully functioning, that should be the source of some concerns.

Now, when it comes to the ABA, we all know the league has some serious issues. There are some franchises who do things well, but the organization itself has its issues. The ABA can be a viable and strong league if Mr. Newman leaves the ABA for good. We all know the problems the league has had, and continues to have, so there is no need to rehash those. With Joe, this league fails. Without Joe, it stands a chance.

TheStandard

Well the three letters are more than tarnished. Joe and Dick wont ever leave. The Name ABA belongs to the NBA. If this league keeps on going it will still have these two old decrepid SOB's running it. stealing from everyone. But hey they still find the suckers so you know what? LET THE PBL be. let them try if they fail hey they failed but they will never embarass themselves the way this stupid so called league HAS

DazedAndAmused
06-26-2007, 02:00 PM
Website maturity aside (Fells is right about perception), it sort of looks like the PBL has been planning since January....with the leaders only playing out their regular ABA seasons because they had to.

But, does anyone else have the impression that the PBL guys are sandbagging for some reason now to hit with full force later? It would be tempting to do that since every small move is scrutinized on these boards that do seem to create reaction. Why not wait to make a big move? Isn't that better than the old way of making statements that are not backed up or that are premature?

It just wastes time to keep stating the overly obvious that the PBL is unproven and nobody knows which/how many teams yet, just as it is a waste time at this point to Joe-bash....even though we may entertain ourselves with it.

We have a failed league vs. an unproven league. Nothing on these boards changes that. We can make our PBL assessments after the next season. Otherwise we are just guessing. The ABA verdict is already in.

zeke41
06-26-2007, 02:30 PM
Agreed, Dazed and Amused....well put. It would be interesting to see if they are delaying to see what happens to the ABA lawsuits. What if they were able to sweep in and take the ABA license right from underneath Joe. THAT would be interesting. Probably far reaching...I know...I do, however, feel like they are sandbagging for a purpose. Everyone knows a good-sized media blitz is better than dropping bits and pieces anyway.

The longer the PBL waits to announce teams then the longer the ABA has to wait to announce a schedule. The ABA's season starts before the PBL so somebody has to blink. Frankly its going to be damaging to both. Its an interesting ploy if a bit childish. If it continues too long it could turn into a pyrrhic victory for the PBL.

TheStandard
06-27-2007, 02:17 AM
Gee arent you childish. Face the facts. The Clippers have been a doormat and when they succeed in winning that man's bankroll goes down. His mentality is that he wants to see a profit and hes had large profits everytime his team has not made the playoffs or has been in the gutter. Its a fact.
