Coach Dave Joerger of the Dakota Wizards will be joining the Memphis Grizzlies as an assistant coach according to KXMB here in Bismarck.
There's no official announcement yet though.
Well, Joerger finally gets what he deserves.
However, what does this mean for the Wizards? I highly doubt that assistant coach Kevin Rice is ready to take over.

It's the news I've been waiting for!!!! That is awesome. Coach Joerger finally gets a position that he deserves, after 5 minor league championships. And he was hired by the perfect team too. He can assist in a possible turnaround for a struggling team. Congratulations to the greatest coach in the minor leagues!!!!

I guess I'll have to become a Grizz fan. I've never liked them, but I have no choice; how can I not support Joerger?
Congratulations to Joerger!

My only hope is that we don't get another Bliss-type situation. But still, I'm happy for Joerger.

Same here. The Grizzlies really haven't stood out too much. Am I correct in saying that they've never won a play-off game? The only players that I think of when the team is mentioned are Pau Gasol and Mike Miller (and maybe rookie Rudy Gay). Jason Williams was their only other good player before he left for Miami. Hopefully they pick up a talented player in the draft. And with Joerger having a little bit of a say in things, they might wind up in the play-offs again and pick up their first victory!

I guess I haven't really thought much of the Wizards' future. I don't feel as bad about not renewing season tickets anymore. I would feel guilty if Joerger would be here another year. But I hope they can find another talented coach. Kevin and Dave made a good team last season, but Kevin probably isn't ready to front a D-League team on his own yet. I don't know for sure. Maybe if the Fort Worth Flyers fold, the Wizards can lure Sidney Moncrief up here. The Flyers were a tough team last year thanks to him.
I doubt the Wizards would ever hire a Bliss-like coach again. That was one of their worst mistakes (but it did help me earn an A on my senior paper when I wrote about Bliss and his "second chance", so all was not lost. And Joerger came back because of Bliss' resignation).

Go to the link and just below the small video area, click on "Thursday morning's sports at your desk". Sounds like Joerger is already in Memphis.

I really have no idea. I hardly follow the NBA. This past season I only followed the Kings because of Justin Williams and the Warriors for the short time Renaldo Major was with them.

Moncrief would be a great coach. I was thinking about possibilities and no really good ones came up. I guess he'll probably be available and what better place to go than to the defending champs.
