I was just curious which league has a better product? I know comparing box lacrosse and field lacrosse is like comparing apples and oranges. But as far as lacrosse fans go which league has a better product, the NLL or MLL? I've never had the opportunity to see an MLL game either live or on tv, so I can't compare the two. As far as I know the MLL isn't even carried on Canadian tv.
However, I've been to an NLL game and have seen several on tv and enjoy the game. I would think that the NLL is faster and more hard hitting but the MLL would have better defenders. Is this a correct assessment? I would assume the NLL is the lacrosse equivalent of the Arena Football League. The field is smaller, so the scoring is slightly higher, but the calibre of play suffers as a result. Conversely the MLL is the lacrosse equivalent of the NFL, where the scoring is lower than the Arena League, but the defences are alot better.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the MLL has any plans to move into Canada or at least move on to tv in Canada? I'm sure either Rogers Sportsnet of The Score (the networks that broadcast the NLL, OLA and BCLA games) would be more than happy to take on more lacrosse. Especially considering Sportsnet has such little programming of their own, they replay their 2 AM Eastern edition of Sports Central (their equivalent of Sportscentre) for a solid 13 hours in my region (Saskatchewan/Alberta) from 12 AM until 1 PM Central. I'm sure they'd gladly take on some new programming to replace this rerun.
