it sure seems legit to me. Hmm, Corpus or Cypress at Austin... interesting match-ups. well, seems since they cant get many fans in their games now, i doubt many would travel to your current AF2 texas cities. a few came to new orleans this past week for the VooDoo game. mostly derrick Lewis's family. hopefully he will be with the VooDoo next year and back HOME:) anyway, thought Id share the news. take care. thoughts (assuming its true)?

an AFL market. I thought they would do better in af2.
But their attendance is steady. I think they are missing the corporate support. I don't think they will average 12,000+ in af2.

Any idea on what venue they will be playing in?

They'll be staying in the Frank Erwin Center at least for 2008.
Beyond that, they'll try to renew the lease.

I asked because I have several friends from Austin who have season tickets. According to them, the Erwin has been at about half capacity (at best) all season for the Wanglers. I've been there. It's a fairly large arena. Much too big for an arena football team that's averaging around 5000 fans per game.

Phydeaux, i been there too. though there attendance numbers listed for every game this year may have been around 12k each (a few real low 10k or less games, but a couple, inc VooDoo and Orlando, drew over 13k) we all know those numbers are not "actual" attendance numbers. yes, i know all bout ticket scanning at gates, etc. many people on here know that their own trained human eye can tell you that an arena that seats 17k and when attendance is announced at over 16k, the team is full of it (and i dont mean bodies in seats). most likely that is tickets sold. so, Austin's best amy have beeen actual 10k or so from games ive watched. but if they continue to get those numbers at AF2 level, they will in the black for sure which is whole point of this. $64k (or I guess its $80k with salary cap--LOL) question becomes will a reduction in leagues matter a lot to Austin fans? will they still come see Laredo, Corpus and etc instead of Orlando, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Georgia, etc.
