Is the WBA finished?

Or will the league make a return in 2008?

I'll be the first to say I'm greatly disappointed with everything that went down this year. This league was doing a lot of things right and all of a sudden a number of bad moves leaves to a season ending inside two months. Not to mention their Black All-Star Classic was cancelled.

I'd love to see an Asheville team, we're the right size for an A level franchise and the Justice Center is the right size, and we weren't that far off a couple of years ago, but I dunno...maybe I could wait to see if the IBL expands to the south and try there in a couple of years.

I'm not happy at all the way the playoffs went down. Not one bit.

What happened to Floyd County, Fort Worth, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, and Wilson? None of those teams are scheduled to be in the WBA next season from the looks of it.

I just noticed on their website a listing of teams for "2008-2009."

I hope that was an oversight given:

a. They are predicting who will play in 2009?
b. They are playing from 2008 TO 2009 in a season?

Again, I hope just an oversight and they really meant "2008."

Very few people were aware that the WBA played this year.

The 2006 season was bad enough with games starting 30 minutes to an hour late, teams not having uniforms because they had been seized to pay motel bills, teams showing up with six players and coaches not even knowing player names, having the officials refuse to take the court in the playoffs because no one would pay them, other support personnel having difficulty getting paid, etc.

This year was a total joke. I think the two Rome teams may have played a total of three home games between them--and that a remotely located high school gymnasium instead of the much more appropriate downtown facility. There were maybe 200 people TOTAL in attendance at all of those games. The schedules teams actually played were not remotely in line with those on the official WBA site. The season just ended with no announcement to anybody with playoffs more appropriate to a neighborhood pickup game.

It is not even the next best thing to an average high school league--much less the NBA.

Getting the scoop on the WBA this year was really tough.

I'm thinking that the managment of the league needs to be solidified back in-house, out of WBA HQ in Atlanta ...

And IMO, somebody needs to be "on it" full time!

Anybody having a hard time getting through to the WBA HQ?

Ditto with me. Sent an e-mail and got no response.

It was suggested to me that we may not hear from the WBA for awhile ...

I just checked their site: They still have the info for the tryouts for April 13-14, 2007!

Good grief!

Did McMath get in trouble or what?

Did McMath get in trouble or what?

Leroy had some personal issues he was dealing with ...

But it appears now everything is a-ok!

I just wish the WBA was more active during the off-season ...

After a conversation I had today ...

I'm not quite sure the WBA will be conducting league operations anytime soon.

And you got this rumor from a website that is no longer functioning?

I think the WBA would have been a great league had it not had crooks from top to bottom. That and lack of stability within the league (who plays a half season, then calls for playoffs with teams no one heard of?? well the ABA comes to mind but hopefully that isnt the bar that one sets!).

Well here in the midwest, we have the IBL that is affordable and functioning. And its season is played as well.
