The sporting goods manufacturers Association had a convention - meeting at the SAnds expo center in Las Vegas June 11- 13.
The people I know in the SGMA had the following to say:
Very Impressed with the PBL exhibit, the PBL had a Basketball floor shipped in with Players wearing PBL Jerseys and doing slam dunks and trick shots.
The PBL rented a night club in Vegas and invited the SGMA people to it. Over 600 attended. The girls walked around serving drinks with PBL tee-shirts.
The Minnesota owner talked about his horendous experience with the ABA.
Lookds like Joe owes the guy $ 250,000. SO what else is new?
Most SGMA members said they will NOT do business with the ABA or ABA teams. Since they do not recognize it as a legitimate league. Because most dont pay their bills.
As best as I learned....the following teams are in the PBL for sure: Maryland, Rochester, Reading, Arkansas, Dallas, Connecticut, Carolina, Long Island, Omaha, Oklahoma.
Joe is full of it as usual...The teams from the ABA left on their own, they said they were not recruited. The small Buzz was that the ABAs days are probably numbered anyways. Also, some basketball manufactueres never heard of the ABA !!!. The PBL had 4 people man the PBL booth. My buddies said that the PBL did a great job and getting the league name out there.
Also my budies picked up a ton of info on the PBL and are sending it to me..I will post anything interesting I read here. The PBL is having a satellite press conference announcing the league in JULY. Keep reading Joe. Tick tick tick..times running out. And ALEX your Basketball articles on the ABA should be under Fiction.

QUESTIONS:
1. Has Wilmington changed their name to Carolina or is Carolina a new team?
2. Is Long Island the SI Sound?
3. Is Arkansas the Aeros?
4. Could Oklahoma possibly be the proposed Lawton ABA team?
Looking forward to hearing more!

What about the promises of "new rules" for the "games we've never seen before?"

Buffalo, Syracuse, and Jacksonville still on the waiting list?

Long Island is not the Strong Island Sound. Rumor has it this is a team that is either going to play at Hofstra University in Nassau County or at the Nassau Colisseum.
Remember, teams are being listed by state and not by city because when it lists New York its the Razorsharks at this current moment.
And who knows maybe this may be in the end the merger people have been thinking of in regards of the CBA and PBL but lets see if they only do it as inter-league. Major League Baseball has interleague play why not merge and still call it PBL and CBA

Why would the CBA, which has been around for over 40 years, merge with ex-ABA teams which have never played a game as a new league?
It is simply unintelligent.
PLaying interleague, however, would not be too much of a challenge IF the CBA granted the new, untried league a chance.

Dont fool yourself with your " untried league" comment. Maryland, Rochester, Arkansas, Minnesota already have a full management team in place. The other new teams will also. so that leaves a schedule and travel
If the PBL can afford to rent night clubs in Vegas and ship in Basketball courts to vegas, have a massive media presence in Vegas, fly in potential owners for meetings, and have a staff in place that fly around to check out new applicant sities...I would assume they have what the ABA doesnt have, money and smart businessmen. ( what money the ABA has Joe uses on personal expenses more than likely, Ask Cioffi he knows, hes geting a check along with Joe and Dick).Looks like the PBL has the funds and I could probably run it from my living room...a step above the Basement Joe.
Hows the Jaloza judgement comming Joe? Who will own the ABA in a few months? It wont be you..... Why no comments on that law suit Joe ? Because you know its over. Too bad the other ABA owners dont have a computer to know this stuff, maybe a copy of the judges decision should be e-mailed to all the respective ABA cities media outlets. How will you spin that one Joe..My attorney buddy said that you wont go bankrupt because Doyle will probably buy the ABA out of BAnkruptcy and shut it down...LOL

Just stating my opinion as I am allowed to do here...I will take aim at ALex till he acts like a responsible journalist and not an apologist for Joes actions...
It may bother you what I state, but thats the way it goes.
Alex....still calling ABA owners to see if they will stay in the ABA? You think I didnt hear about that? shameful...
your comment Alex to William ( of another newspaper) that you think the ABA is better than the CBA and NBDL,,,, what meds is ALex on?
Credibility of ALex is zero....In my opinion ( im sure many others also)
What ALex and you need is a dose of reality.

Too bad the other ABA owners dont have a computer to know this stuff ...
I get the impression that a good deal of the ABA ownerships are quietly monitoring the ABA situation pretty closely ...

Interleague wouldn't work unless the PBL adopted the 7-point scoring system that the CBA uses to determine playoff positions. Without the 7-point system, it would just be a series of exhibition contests.

Again...
There is no lawsuit threatening the ABA.
If I am wrong come the satrt of the season, I will come on this board and say the following:
"You are right, I am/was wrong. The ABA is a criminal operation run by a thief, and I will never defend the league again on this Board."
If Joe is running the league come November, will you do the same for your readers here? You are always into the truth - will you speak the truth and state you were stupid, wrong and know nothing about the law?
Of course not, a1 is not man enough.
In conclusion, Joe will be running the league in November.
The league will still be here.
Most, probably not all, but most teams will finish there season.
And since I do have ownership friends, I can state they do have computers. Your continuos slander again speaks to your anti-ABA agenda. You must getting paid by the CBA or PBL to slander the league.
And on their computers, most are familiar with the ABA's situation. I also know that almost every division has discussed plans to survive if the ABA did close. I know that their is no license preventing the use of a red, white and blue ball, and that a new league could be formed. I know that Joe has the business acumen to shelter and protect assets and the league license. On and on and on.
Man up - if you can call Joe out and say he will be losing the league - hiding behind an anonymous post - then put your money where your mouth is. I will gladly recant the league and call myself an idiot if proven wrong come November.
Will you?

Yes you may think that the ABA will be around November with Joe at the helm because Joe....You think you can just move the assets again ( 8 times) from one corporation to another. The asset being the ABA license. WELL....link to the judges order and read it with someone other than your attorney partners.
Nice try for 7 years...close a corporation open another....This time is has caught up with you.
Now Joe..Let me explain even to you The 21st century Lex Luthor.
ABA founders and Properties Inc had 4 partners. You and Dickie with Jaloza and fratella. YOu moved the ABA license to another company without telling Jaloza and fratella. The courts are slow...no doubt about that BUT the judge said Jaloza and fratella own at LEAST 50% of the ABA license if not more.
Simple enough? In the next 30 days or maybe less Jaloza and fratella will decide your fate. MY attorney buddy says that by LAW Jaloza and Fratella can charge you for using the ABA name the past 5 years millions of dollars...that means at least youd need to sell 120,500 franchises at 10 k a pop. Now Joe...Im going to let you in on a secret...Remember in 1996 when you wanted to buy the 7 radio stations in Michigan and Jaloza and fratella lent you the money and in 4 months in was gone? Is that right? NO stations were bought..something like that, am I right?? LOL. SO if you think your just going to start another corporation with ABA in the titile. you probably could BUT there will be no rights to the ABA license. Any questions? LOL. Hey Maybe Jaloza and fratella can sell the license to Doyle or maybe to Fernandez of the CBA Maybe they should buy it together> LETS JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH. Was this clear enough for you Joe? or Chichester? or Brad? ok? and for you ALEX? Hell of a story Alex, but dont waste your time on the truth.

Most, probably not all, but most teams will finish there season.
Isn't this comment an indictment on the ABA heading into the next season; specificially, that even someone who backs the ABA (I'm not calling you a rah-rah or blind loyalist, but someone who has defended the ABA multiple times) is pretty much admitting that yet another season will end incomplete?
When does the pattern change? When are the people and processes put in place to ensure that a team, and a league, plays every scheduled game?
If there was a casual an on this site, curious about the new team in their town and whether or not to invest the time and money to support it, doesn't your comment raise a huge question mark in their mind? How do they know it won't be their home gym that has a hastily scribbled "Game postponed" sign taped to the door?
Just that fact that you say 'probably' and not possibly, means even yu expect much of the same again this year.
What would YOU do to ensure that the 'probably' doesn't occur. Obviously, based upon past history and your negative forcast, the ABA league office hasn't adressed the issue adequately.
What would you do?

Look what you just posted man, do you even read what you write on this thing or do you just ramble and hope something is true in what you write. If the ABA would file bankruptcy then the courts will give us ample time to pay our debts to creditors or debtors. Oh by the way, you can form as many companies as you want to protect your other companies and to also setup to buy your other companies. Hell if what you posted about your buddy saying is illegal then Robert the "Rich Dad Poor Dad" guy is going down as well.

You must getting paid by the CBA or PBL to slander the league.
Or....we could just be people who hate to see other people wreck minor league pro basketball....ya think?
Seeing as how most of us have been here since long before there was a PBL. And if the CBA is paying people to come on a message board and say bad things about the ABA, that seems to me to be a waste of resources.
You're just paranoid and grasping at straws. The sheer tonnage of the stupid/insane/unethical things the ABA has done since 2000 begs disbelief.

Most, probably not all, but most teams will finish there (sic) season.
If you have 60 crap franchises, I'd imagine 31 of them could limp through to the end of the season, which is not really the same thing as playing all of your games.
To date, how many ABA teams have played all of their games? And how many have missed games not because of other teams' shenanigans, but because of their own?

I don't agree that ABA_Insider is Tommy C. Based upon the comments posted after Joe's drive-by against the Halifax writer:
Crazy article from Walling. He should take some lessons from award-winning writer Alexander Wolf with Sports Illustrated, who own a team. he is able to comment on the foibles of the ABA, and minor league sports, while at the same time having some perspective. Most of the ABA's problems are no different than other pro legaues, who have lost more teams, and more revenue, than the ABA has.
Getting your info for a major column from a message board, is rather unintelligent. The ABA, for all its troubles, and the new team in Halifax, deserve better.
I say he is Steven Peterson from Albany, georgia
Maybe he will be part of Stephanie Roach's third attempt to sustain a basketball franchise...
