First ball he saw he sent over the fence or first pitch in the 5th inning? Box scores are way bottom of the GBL priority list (shouldn't be, but are) so I can't figure out when Scott's first game was. Hopefully they've learned that they need to play him everyday :)

Scott's first game was the first game of the St. George series. According to the Flyers, he sat out the Yuma series due to a infection on his left pinky finger. He had an ingrown hair throughout spring training, but his hand swelled up in Yuma. They took precautions and sat him out until the hand got better. OC has been using him strictly as a DH.

Scott had a staph infection in his hand and was unable to comfortably grip the bat... hand was all swollen. A trip to the hospital for antibiotics worked for him... last night on our season opener in OC he hit one over the fence. We are glad to have him aboard!

Ouch! Glad he's doing better. Hopefully he'll hit a couple on Saturday. Do you guys pass-the-hat?

You betcha! We actually had 3 back to back home runs from Scott, Rich Pohle, and Peanut Williams... each guy got $172.00...not too shabby!

Yah, not too shabby at all! Way to go OC, showing your boys some love like that.

Can't wait for Saturday, I'm very excited.

I think I'll see GTII on Sunday morning here for some hitting, but please, if you see Goody before then, let him know Monty said, "What's up?"

Hope all is going incredibly well!

Yesterday after James' All Star practice (which was supposed to be 7-9am but ended up being 7-11am) Mary, James and I went up to see the OC Flyers host the Yuma Scorpions on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. We got there just before 2pm which was in time for batting practice.

The guys were just stretching and warming up as we got there so we hung out in the shade until BP started. Once BP started James went do onto the field to shag balls. After shagging balls James and one of the coach's sons were invited to take some swings.

And then after all that the pitching coach called up to me in the stands asking me about what school I went to and when did I graduate… turns out it was Mike Smith from my high school graduating class. Small world.

The best part was seeing Goodie play. He's such a good player and a good guy on top of that. Just after James ran out onto the field Goodie recognized who he was right off and then looked up into the stands to find Mary and me. I didn't think he'd remember my name (and he didn't) but when he hollered up to us, "Hey Mary!" He asked how Seth Pietch was doing (extremely well was the short answer).

Well that was the end of the fun stuff.

Between the end of BP and the start of the game there was a gap of about an hour so we headed back to the parking lot with the plans to put some of our stuff in the van then head over to the gas station across the street to get a cola.

As we got closer to the van we saw that the driver's window was totally busted out. *sadness and tears*

Sucks a$$, right? The only thing missing was Mary's purse.

It's a looong story of the cops showing up, the guy barricading himself in his girlfriends place (as he's now in violation of his parole) and us trying to make calls to all of Mary's card holders and her work's card holders. But the long story is boring so I'll spare you from it. :)

Thanks to the very kind and understanding OC GM, Ed Hart, we moved the van to the employees area back behind the stadium so we could try to still watch the double header, but as the second inning ended more credit cards were remembered and so we headed home so that Mary could remotely log into her computer at work and cancel the work cards.

The two-hour drive home was a long two-hours with the window missing, but it wasn't completely miserable. Repair costs for parts and labor (done at our home) is just about $190. Not so bad.

I must add that the OC Flyers game day staff were very nice to us and, as always, the Cabooster Club members were nice as well. The main on-field announcer seemed like maybe a fill in guy as he wasn't very smooth with his announcements and seemed a bit unsure of some of the sponsors. *shrug*

The crowd wasn't HUGE but it was respectable, same as an average night was with the Dawgs. Though I imagine that since it was a double header they'd pick up more attendance as the night went on. As we didn't stay for long I can only assume they got more folks.

One super cool thing about Goodwin Field is that fans can easily tail gate (we were unable to at SDSU). It was neat seeing folks tailgating.

Thanks go out to the ticket booth worker who is also a student at SDSU, the Caboosters and, of course, Ed. Everyone made us feel welcome and part of the Flyers family.

That sucks. Hope you get everything back. I know what that feels like.

Mary & Yvonne,
It was nice seeing you at Goodwin Saturday, so sorry to hear you had a problem... sounds like security needs to be keeping a closer eye on things and makes me nervous for all the players who leave their cars in the lot! Can't say Fullerton is a crime-free town, but it is normally pretty quiet.... again so sorry! :(
On a happier note, Goodie had another home run today... small Sunday crowd, but I still was able to collect $110 for him. The Caboosters had a nice ham dinner for them after the game and sent Yuma packing off to Chico with sandwiches and chips. The gap for 1st place has now officially been closed, we are just 1/2 a game out and Chico is 1/2 game behind us. For some odd reason we don't play Reno the fist half, but we have a series with Long Beach and then a trip to Chico ahead this week for our guys. Hope you can come back for our next Saturday game... we would love to have you as our guests...

Thanks to you both for the kind words.

I think it's killer cool that you guys send stuff with the visiting team... that never even crossed our minds, but if ever *knock wood* we get a team in San Diego again, we'll have to consider that.

We'll see about coming back up, I like the folks up there, but we want to visit Long Beach too as well at St. George. We'll get up to St. George during our vacation and we'll probably be there for their Aug 3rd game.

Ugh, so get this... tonight I was packing up James' baseball stuff and getting a uni ready for his practice tomorrow and realized that in our haste to take care of the van we left his brand new (it's only a week old) helmet that his grandmother just bought him. *sigh* Sadness.

I plan to call the Flyers office to see if they found an extra, non-team helmet.

Can someone please let Goodie know why we disappeared? I don't know if we'll make it back up there and I want him to know how much we were looking forward to seeing him play.

Thanks,

Mary

Sure will Mary... we will be going to Long Beach tonight and I will let him know...
