With the talk of the UFL and AAFL, I wonder why these leagues think they can make it when the other pro leagues have failed. All they have to do is look at the history of the past outdoor professional leagues to play in the US:
XFL - one season
SFL - one season
RFL - one season
CFL - two seasons
WLAF - two seasons
USFL - three seasons
WFL - two seasons

Don't forget:
AAFC - four seasons (partial merge with NFL)
AFL - 10 seasons (full merge with NFL)

Yes, sine the AFL/NFL merger in 1970.

SFL - NO season ("festival"....whatever that means...somewhere in TX)
WLAF - two seasons (didnt "fail"/wasnt allowed to...pisses me off)
WFL - 1 1/2 seasons
SPFL - DNP (folded just before first game)
The money is there with these 2, which will be the biggest difference.
Maybe an AAFL/UFL merger at some point.

The WLAF is actually still playing as NFL Europa.

SFL did play in 2000. Franchises were in Miami, Houston, San Antonio and Los Angeles. Many ex-NFL players were coaches and players. They had some exciting games.
PSFL folded before playing in 1992. Teams were formed and in training camp when league folded just before the opening game. Baylor head coach Guy Morris was a HC in the PSFL and still uses it on his resume.
WLAF is still playing in Europe, but not in the US, just like the CFL.

As i stated on Uflnews.info the ufl will survive unlike all the other leagues and a merger between the aafl and UFL could be possible in the future.

Merger? So will players only be required to have an associates degree to play?

I wouldnt say NFL Europa is the same as the WLAF....The structure changed, the NFL owns all the teams and the NFL started designating players (which to me is the main difference between the two).
