Are the Gwinette Gwizzlies for real? For the past few weeks they have been issuing press releases raving about some player named Sam Cox, who is supposed to be the next unknown player to rise up out of obscurity and take his place among the basketball stars.
Well, I did some research on the guy, which I have become pretty good at thanks to law school, and I couldn't find any decent stats on the kid. The most points I found the kid scoring in a game was not at or over 10 points. Now, that is not to say that the kid isn't a good ball player. Maybe there are some other circumstance that could explain why the kid did not perform well in college. However, based upon all of the hype, I at least expected him to be a double digit scorer of some sort.
Is this just a ploy by the aforementioned ABA franchise to gain public attention? I guess it is working since it made me take notice. However, a word to the wise Gwizzlies, if you are going to overly hype a player at least make sure that there are some stats on the guy (you know, a track record of success of some kind) that you can point to to help substantiate all of this pub.
Anyways, good luck everyone, and Daleo I hope that your search for an assistant coach is going well (see, I'm not bashing you).
